Just watched Lauren Gregory win the SEC 3K in around 9:10, beating Omemoi, I believe. Since the two would be primary competition for Tuohy, we can see where that will go. They also mentioned the great DMR performance of 4:30, another indicator of what Tuohy’s options are for the mile distance. Both distances could probably be won with a 10-20 second winning margin.
Hilda does not have accelleration to kick with Tuohy. Gregory in a slow race can be dangersous.

theres a kickers in a slow race group:
mccabe, gregory, hilda, markezich, matoug, bush
‘Slow’ or tactical races are unpredictable and should be anticipated. Finish with a 2:44 kick and few if any can keep up. Or maintain an ‘honest’ pace that knocks the kick out of the pretenders.
You are really struggling in life if you have to argue with anonymous people about a crowd's reaction.
and you're reacting to it
actually, i just wanted to post about it again and again to mess with the insecure haters 🥰 love rubbing salt on their wounds, haters seem to hate it when kt wins, and gets appreciated

Changed my mind about Tuohy after seeing the TV broadcast. Tuohy does look like the real thing. Just effortlessly destroyed the field in the last K. She is clearly back on her early progression which was set back by a year over her HS senior spring and early freshman year.
The scary thing is how close she is at this point…she just beat Schweizer’s college record by a whopping 6 seconds…and her rate of progression is not slowing down. It’s possible that there’s no competition left for her in the NCAA’s…and she’s still only 20! She’s catching up to the elite faster than they would like. There is little doubt that many pro’s fear her or are at least in awe. If you’re a fan of the sport this is good news…there’s no room for jealousy here. We need to support her, not tear her down. There’s nothing but humility coming from her.
pros run 4:23 with altitude training and full pro training... katelyn ran without any of that
what the pros should also take note is that katelyn tuohy is graduating this year, a year early than her peers, she really is coming for them sooner than expected
pretty sure the pros know how competitive katelyn is, there was one interview of elly henes w citius mag, and she told them that katelyn tuohy is so so competitive that she will always be good at anything .. i guess that also explains why shes a deans lister gal from day 1
Is there validity to this claim? If she does this, it makes a lot of sense tbh. She's undefeated so far this year, and with the way she's running and going into an Olympic year it would be best for her to put herself in position to qualify. That might not be sticking with the NCAA.
My guess is she will still be running for NCst until next year. At the very least through the XC season. Then again, maybe the opportunities will be too big to pass up.
Echoing what someone has posted earlier. I would like to see Tuohy go pro, as her stock is high right now. But mainly because Chmiel is in her shadow and is a great runner/teammate and Tuohy going pro would give Chmiel the opportunity to enhance her resume and stock to obtain the best contrast when she becomes pro.

Don’t see that working out. She entered NCSt a year before Tuohy did. Chmiel graduated last year and is already listed as a graduate student. I don’t believe she aspires to run professionally. She wants to be a vet and that’s a long road to finish, school-wise. Her grades, if anything are better than Tuohy’s and the talent level is a notch below. Even in HS Tuohy would routinely lap her. They make it sound like they they were neck and neck and the facts don’t bear that out. Chmiel is a very good runner but I don’t think their motivations or talent levels are the same.

She’ll be turning 21 in a month. She entered college with a ton of AP college credits…so it comes to reason that she’ll be graduating earlier than the traditional 4 years. With her academic achievements she should consider doing some graduate work. I suspect she will consider it after the Paris Olympics. Meanwhile she will be able to concentrate on her running when she turns pro after graduation, I suspect. A year or two break will uncover what effect a pro regimen will have at her talent level. I look forward to finding out.
Is there an expectation that she has to go to grad school? It seems grad school is the new bachelor's degree (not meant as a slight against this post but just in general, it seems every 20-something I know is in grad school).
She appears to have the Mamba mentality. No excuses and winning is everything. And I think KT is clean and legit, plus she's modest and humble. As an aside, RIP Kobe.
