Love this course! You get a sense of the undulation even onscreen. And the tires are kind of cool cause it's such a sick corner right before them. This should be in the Olympics. Team relays too. Coverage is great on the World Athletics youtube channel.
Cross-country on a course like this is maybe the most entertaining distance event. Beats the track, I think.
I haven't seen a breakdown yet but am trying to figure them out.
Kenya team on paper wasn't the strongest but they got it done.
Emmanuel Wanyonyi is best known for being an 800 runner. He ran well on 1st leg to hand off just behind leader (surprise that it was South Africa).
Jess Hull ran a great leg for Australia to give them the lead after leg 2 (she was 6 seconds back at hand off and handed off in 1st by 5 seconds). Kenya's 2nd leg was Mirriam Cherop who has only run 4:10 for 1500.
Kyumbe Munguti who is only a 3:36 1500m had the leg of the day for Kenya. He put 13 seconds on Stewy McSweyn of Australia to get Kenya an 8 second lead for the anchor.
Kenya had Brenda Chebet (4:04 1500m , World Under 20 1500m silver last year) and she brought it home.
