No asterisks, 3000m collegiate record by a wide margin. Spectacular run! Lots of PBs in this race. She beat some quality pros today. Monson is amazing and Muir’s effort in the mile was inspiring.
Provided KT wins a couple titles and breaks the 5,000m record this Spring, I’m fine with her turning pro, but I remain convinced she comes back for one more XC title WITH HER TEAM. If you can’t make sense of that decision, you haven’t been paying attention.
There were two pacers, one for the American record for Monson and top pros then one for the NCAA record for Tuohy, so I did not even think about Tuohy getting a podium spot because she was paced to be in the second pack. That was an insane run!

I ‘m predicting again a sub 4 in the 1500. I hope she gives it a try, at least in the outdoor season. Less than a year ago I predicted both a sub 15 and a sub 4. It doesn’t look that far fetched anymore. She’ll need to get there to qualify for worlds. I feel somewhat vindicated. We’ll see…

I agree. I'm not sure on where she is as far as when she will graduate with her degree, but I think it will probably require her at least taking classes until the fall of 2023, and then maybe she would get her undergraduate degree in December of 2023. So I believe that her getting her degree would be a big motivating factor to stay in college until at least December of 2023.
And, as you said, I think she would also be heavily motivated to run at least one more season of cross country, and go for the 3-peat in the team title. If you listen to her interviews, she always talks about how cross country is by far her favorite season, and that one of the biggest reasons she decided to go to college (and not turn pro right out of high school) was that she wanted to experience collegiate cross country, because she absolutely loves the TEAM aspect of it.
I would be very surprised if she doesn't at least run one more season of college cross country.
I would imagine she runs it back in XC to go for a team 3 peat and then goes pro to prepare for the Olympic Trials next summer.
That was exactly what I predicted, based on her comment about this being her ‘last chance’ for indoors. I expect she has enough credits to graduate by year-end…nothing more to prove at this level.
katelyn tuohy is officially faster than elly henes, a 14:52 5k runner
my jaw dropped when she passed elly, then she passed elise cranny and i just lost it !!!
I really thought she might run 14:50 tops in her career. I really underestimated her. Give her a couple of years, amp up her mileage to maybe 70-75 miles a week, get a training partner like Monson, she has a very healthy weight but if she got a bit leaner, and I see her running around 14:25 in the not too distant future.

Totally agree for all the stated reasons and likelihood of graduating in December.
Mixed emotions for me. I don't see how she can stay in college another year. She has no competition left there.
Maybe her classes?
Perfect place for her. Gets her degree and has plenty of places to race in the US
katelyn is academically a SENIOR. she is on her last year in college academics, she will gradutate a year early than her peers ... apparently she got a fast brain too.

we've been telling you this but you're so wrapped around your valbymania

I have never have had one comment about Valby Parker. i found it humorous how each of your camps would rip the other runner.
great interview, she is super bright. she is clearly not comfortable talking about/doesn't want to talk about the NIL deal. interviewer should have chilled with prying questions about it in this moment.

katelyn finishing third was not on my bingo card either because the line up was 🔥🔥🔥
but oh well she never goes down without a fight! she will always give it her all! so happy for her!

if you let fans of someone dictate whether you can cheer for them or not thats a personal problem
so true
who cares what fans say, fans has always been crazy, thats every sport ever, if you see a talent like katelyn and dont appreciate it, that just plain jealousy and hatred over her because shes doing better than the athlete he/she supports
