I am with you she should be working on her speed some. I also think this Indoor Championship could be a little tricky for her as she has to make the race fast - but with it at altitude how fast is fast (and not too fast)?
He did it, but he could win a slow 5000 with a kick. Valby does not have that luxury.
I was suggesting maximizing ‘point haul’ (rather than actually winning the individual events) by running three events, versus two. But that could turn out to be a wash, too.
Imho best point haul is 3k/5k double. She is likely to podium in both events.

As one example, a 2nd, 3rd and 4th is 18 points, versus two 2nd’s being 16 points.
Why can't it be a vocation? After all the coach isn't more important than the athlete.
A little bit of loyalty to these young kids from Solinsky would go a long way in making them confident athletes. Instead Parker and her teammates now know that climbing the ladder to become successful is more important than the loyalty of a coach.
How do you know he is not loyal? How do you know whether or not he would recommend his boss to go after any of those athletes, should they enter the transfer portal? Is that what you mean by loyalty? Is that what you refer to as success?
she ran a 4:35 which was a pretty decent leg - that clip must have been her DYING after going out as HARD as she possibly could - surprised?? - isn't this her MO on everything she runs??

How is 4:35 good for Valby? Didn’t tuohy just run 4:24? Aren’t they supposed to be on the same level? Tuohy’s not a miler either
Wow. Valby looked like she was running in slow motion. Got her doors blown off by everyone
And... it looks like she got the stick trailing stanford by 10s... that's a pretty epic push to make up that gap, even if she couldn't hold on - you gotta love the all out effort - i just wish we could see these races from start to finish more easily
has tuohy's full 4:24 run been uploaded anywhere? i haven't been able to find it yet

i think i said pretty decent, not good... and i was just looking at the other legs run in that race... i think she was tied ish for 3rd best anchor...
i'm not one who thinks that Valby is even close to being on tuohy's level - doesn't keep me from applauding her go for broke style and more than decent results... if it weren't for tuohy, valby WOULD be the reigning 5000m and XC NCAA champ, no??
Thanks for posting the DMR finish I hadn’t seen it!
Most interested in the Stanford final leg. According to the results I assumed she was ahead and no one had caught up and that’s why her split was slower. Looks like she let them catch her and saved her energy!
