So what? Were they blatantly racist, threatening, or link to pornographic material? If not, why delete it?
You think that more likely on this than any other thread? But whatever was posted clearly offended the sensibilities of the mods and their concern for public morals. Or maybe a little power just goes to their heads.

I think the mods either delete posts based on their personal social/political biases, or they have some weird idea that LRC should be like most other sports related sites. Either way it’s a problem.

I think they have some kind of strange idea that LRC should look like other sports related sites. It doesn’t and never will.

I disagree with the LRC staff on most social and political issues. However, it is their website. It's not some government-funded nonprofit, it's a private for-profit business. They can moderate it however they want. The courts have consistently held for decades that freedom of speech means the government can't unduly restrict your expression; privately owned platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube are under no obligation to allow content they don't like. LRC falls firmly under this umbrella. Regardless of whether or not that interpretation of the First Amendment is the one which is best, that is the one under which the American media ecosystem currently operates.

To be in favour of free speech, as the site claims to be, hardly sits with capricious censorship.

Well…of course. My point is not whether they have the legal right. My point is whether they should. An entirely different question.
