Egh, the older you get, the less pleasure you get physiologically from drinking, and the worse the hangovers get. Which is why most people stop partying around 30, and most end up being moderate drinkers. Most others don't even really enjoy the drinking, they are still getting hits of dopamine in anticipation of drinking, cause those pathways in their brain are so wired in.
This is sort of how my relationship to drinking has gone. Been there, done that, no thanks, but here I am again. I think I’m finally ready to override “those pathways”.
I also logged all my drinks this year (thought not as detailed as OP)
Ended up at 228 for the year. I was surprised it was that high. I only drink maybe once or twice a week, but multiple drinks quickly add up.
I'm trying to have 182 drinks or less this year (average less than 1 drink every two days). Adds up to 4 less drinks per month than 2022 for me. I'm also trying to go longer witohut drinking as well, hopefully weeks at a time (starting with January).
"All good things in moderation" as they say. Obvioulsy alcohol is dangerous and can quickly spiral your life out of control, health and non-health related.
However, there are few things funnier than people who are admant against alcohol, but overweight, inactive, and much more unhealthy than me and my friends who drink. It takes hard work to get a gut without alcohol.
Same. I find that I can't have 1 or 2 anymore, it's always a binge of 5-8. Cause after 1 or 2, I feel meh, and figure I need more to get buzzed. Then I'm just chain drinking without thinking. And the weird thing is, it doesn't even feel that great, it's just kinda ok now. Time to stop.

Seriously I don’t get much of “the buzz” at all now at 30
Have drunk 4 times this year - mainly the night after a big race so it doesn't really harm training. About 40-45 drinks total (all 4 times) over about a 3 hour span for each
High end of moderate. I felt noticeably better on the mornings after a non-drinking day. Can't determine the effect drinking had on my running, but it was probably detrimental. Last race of the year was a 5K Turkey Trot in 26:39 at age 62. Did not drink for 14 days before that.
I probably should cut down slightly, but at this age, motivation is lacking. I'll run faster ? Big deal. I already beat most of the younger people in the few races I run, so all is well.
Days I drank: 219 Days I did not drink: 146
Beer 3368 oz. (26.3 gallons), 280.7 drinks (12 oz. per drink). Red Wine 566.5 oz. (4.4 gallons), 113.3 drinks (5 oz. per drink). White Wine 369.5 oz. (2.9 gallons), 73.9 drinks (5 oz. per drink). Whiskey 69 oz. (0.54 gallons), 46 drinks (1.5 oz. per drink).
513.9 drinks in 365 days = 1.4 drinks per day.

Millions of people out there are a lot worse than me. Not keeping track this year, but I know its less compared to this time last year. Drinking only on Fri/Sat/Sun. Feel more energetic.
jungle juice f*cks you up far more than you'd think. I once felt drunk after only 2 cups last semester - turned out it was about 3:1 Gatorade:vodka so each cup was like 4 beers

So far this year I think I've gone four days, not consecutive mind you, without any alcohol.
