I don't know how effective Pound's suggestion would be, but I'll say this: Dick Pound is 100% more committed to clean sport than Roger Goodell and Ron Manfred.
I know there's a common belief that cheaters are always a few steps ahead of the testers, but I'd love to see a breakthrough with the biological passport system that makes it easier to nail the dopers. Hope springs eternal.
And wouldn't it be possible for EPO manufacturers to place some sort of marker in their product that shows up on a drug test but has no adverse effect on the cancer/anemia patient being treated? I'm assuming this has been proposed at some point?
NOPe. If they miss a test, like doorbell mo hiding in his closet, then a lifetime ban is immediately put in place, no appeals. Do not wait until another day to test. I am sure that nike has the time to clear calculated down to the minute. No more of this nonsense that has allowed doping cheaters to evade.
No excuses. Miss a test for any reason and you are out for life.
100% Often it's a matter of hours to clear stuff that would be undetectable.
Tyler Hamilton (cyclist) talks in his book how it was common to pretend not being at home when testers knocked because they were "glowing" that day.
You're both completely missing the point.
Athletes can't just keep pretending they aren't home, because the 3rd time in 1 year that they do that they'll get suspended.
The point I made was that Dick's solution is not good - he says if an athlete is not home then test him/her next day, but I'm saying a day later could be already too late.
What about going a step further. Everyone has a whereabouts app on their own. What about having this app automatically come on during the one hour testing window and report to the testers where the phone is using GPS location.
Yes people can claim they are asleep or don't have their phone but....
Or is this too much of an invasion of privacy?
Yes; gross invasion . Pound accepts human rights laws apply esp in Europe.
Ha. Europe in particular has zero concern with human rights, unless it has to do with getting or having sex. An app on the phone is nothing to complain about.

Soccer in the UK won’t have home or holiday tests as they have pulled the human rights card.
Also what happens if you lose you phone etc or are out of signal?
It's like DP doesn't know how testing works... a lot of the times testers fly/drive into the location for testing for the day. It's not like they can just change their plans like that... bizarre he's saying this.
Yeah they have to move on to someone else who misses the test. It's such a routine, they may not collect any fluids at all.
