People are pretty harsh on Rojo, but this is literally the business model that Uber started with.
Obviously, it's an absolutely horrible deal for anyone to just give Rojo a ride to Stillwater, but if there is someone who is already planning or going to visit their GF at college this weekend after work, then maybe they'd appreciate $50 for gas and it's a win win. I'm not sure there is a big enough audience on Letsrun to facilitate a likely match, but when I was in college 25+ years ago, we had rideshare boards where people would make similar offers. Probably still happens.
I would honestly pay to watch this for the laughs.
You can cover the other $50 for the ride.
But him hitching a ride with another person who's already heading there for the meet isn't too bad. As long as it doesn't overly inconvenience the driver.
He’s clearly doing this to continue his day drinking after getting off the plane. So bank on a minimum of 3 pee stops over those 60+ miles. Unless he’s packing a pee jug.
1) Thanks for the overwhelming respones. When I landed I was like, "Will anyone have responded?" I had a a ton of texts with offers and nearly 4 pages of responses. Thank you.
2) Last year on the way out of NCAA indoors, I had the parents of NC State's #3 hop into my uber as we drove to Atlanta when our flights were cancelled. Today, the favor was returned to me as the parents of NC State's #3 gave me a ride. Lots of fun to talk to parents who have raised kids through college and so successfullly. Talk to them about this year's team, the recruiting , etc.
3) I didn't want to rent a car as Jonathan Gault has a rental car already and I want one of us working when we drive back. Plus when I looked for rental cars earlier in the week, there were zero. I heard of an NCAA team that had to rent a bus (they were hoping for cars). But mainly I want to be productive when driving back from the meet so my other option was Uber which is $75 roughly. I figured pay someone $50 and they get money and we have fun.

Now I need a food recommendation.
Rojo is really figuring it out. He now knows that he is better off crowdsourcing almost all of his decisions in life. It is almost a genius like move in his case.
