I found it interesting that Jager said it was so windy, and that is why the Steeple went so slow. But wasn't the W1500m right after? Did the wind die then? Or did the ladies be like "hold my beer..."
On a side note, I'm just waiting for Rojo to say that he wants to see Kipyegon win a sit and kick race before he crowns her the GOAT. His contrarian case is going to be that she can only win by running one way.
Anyway, Kipyegon is the total GOAT, Tsegay ran the only race she could try and break her, and Muir is a baller to pull out 3:55 after showing very little so far this season. Together, they mentally broke the field inside 300m
Kipyegon has run sit and kick races. Both the 2016 Olympic and 2017 world finals were pedestrian with a blazing last lap.
when the results are printed there are no atta boy points for "going for it" or running with balls." all anyone sees is where you finished. when it comes time to get another contract they are going to point out that you finished in 12 or whatever, they arent going to consider that you lead 3/4 of the race.
finishing place is all that matters. and the higher the better.

In 2016, Dibaba took off with 800m to go, just as she did in 2015, and Kipyegon ran her down.
In 2017, Kipyegon and Hassan engaged in all out sprint in the back stretch, and Kipyegon hang on to win, while Hassan faded badly.

Lol. You really think these guys, are getting another contract worth anything if they aren’t making WC and Olympic teams? American 1500 meter runners who never make it to the next level don’t get decent contracts whether they finish 5th or 12th in these races. But hey, if your goal is to get free shoes, a jersey, and the occasional comped entry then have at it.
When you’re that much better than pretty much the entire field it’s just stupid to run a slow “tactical” race. If you’re ten seconds better than someone then why would you ever sit in a pack with them and leave it to a sprint finish.
Laura Muir is nothing but tough, a real fighter. I really didn't believe that she was in shape to run that kind of a race. She could've slacked off as she had bronze in the bag but instead she went for it.

Stupid comment, so she's on the heels of the two in front with 150m to go, why would she think the "bronze in the bag" and slack off when there's always the possibility the other two could die in the arse.
If you make no real effort for top 3 you might as well not run at all.
Meh, you do your thing and I'll do mine. I ran in several Olympic Trials and national championships, and was definitely happier with 4th than 11th. I didn't have standard and didn't have a realistic chance of winning, so I ran to maximize my placing. It had plenty of meaning to me. And as a fan, I get excited when athletes I cheer for run well and exceed expectations, even if that means, say, a 6th place finish.

I know if I was negotiating I'd rather be able to say I was 4th in the World than 15th. And I'd rather say I was on the WC team, than not.
