Fisher could run close to 7:30 for 3k right now, his closing last mile in his record setting 5k indicates this level of fitness. I would be shocked if he couldn’t break 3:35 for a 1500 given his last mile in that 5k was right around 3:57…

Me thinks Fishers’ sweet spot is the 3k.
As his trading changes through the summer, sub 7:30 maybe 7:26 in the right conditions will be in his wheel-house.
He has proven that he is a force on the world stage in 5 & 10. He will have many years to improve at those distances.
Why would the 3k be his sweet spot? 26:33 is a better mark than 12:53 or 7:29.xx. Maybe at 7:26 or so we’re getting close in terms of equivalents. Fisher has not shown the 1500 ability to think his best event would be 3,000 like maybe is/was the case for Farah(never went for times except Monaco 1500), Katir, Kejelcha, Komen. He looks like a pretty balanced 5/10K guy to me.
1) The strength Grant has atm is not something Hocker is ever likely to achieve. 2)If you don’t get the difference between championship racing and non championship racing then you never will. 3) Just appreciate the fitness Grant is displaying right now…he looks like a human machine

1) Uh, why with regards to the 3K-5k? Both were lightly trained in High School and showed amazing natural aerobic engines. Hocker is going to continue to gain strength, and he's in a system that develops through threshold work, mileage and not just speed. He trains with a distance group and not the Oregon mid-D guys like Reed Brown. Yes he won't train for the 5/10 like Grant but he will do plenty of strength work for the 3-5K. I suspect Thomas wants him to be sub-13 capable in the next couple of years.
2) Not sure the relevance here. Hocker won 3 NCAA Titles, a US Title and finished 6th in a lifetime best at the Olympics. Grant went 0/2 in his 2 USA Finals, but I will give him major props for 5th in the Olympics 10K.
3) I do, but it doesn't change my assessment that his best event is probably the 10K with 5K very close.
