I didn't love this race, but 809m of it was raced and not jogged. The first 209m was honest, and then the last 600 was hard and involved plenty of strategy/positioning. I think spots 1-4 ran great races with Reed Brown a particular tactical standout. Davis ran very smart too.
The two fastest guys just can't be criticized for going slow as they went 1-2 and Beadlescomb was a positioning error or two away (got pushed back a little too far in the penultimate lap, went too wide the last 50 meters) from winning a national title in an off event.
You can hate slow races all you want, but none of the fast guys besides an injured Kipsang had a weak kick they had to mask with a fast pace.
