Yeah.
I was not impressed with Elle this weekend. I hate to say it. But I was...not impressed.
I was not impressed with her instagram post either. "Hey Heather! We made our second team together!" not..."Congrats to my teammate and best friend Heather on winning her first national title???" You know, when Courtney beat Emma, she had the grace to congratulate her. When Courtney got the AR Emma congratulated her again. Heather didn't just make a team with you, Ellie. She won a national title, fair and square.
On the other hand, I am loving Heather Maclean. What a great story of a great kid. Total underdog, overlooked her entire career. In high school, her teammate Cat Rocha made Footlocker Nationals, got a ton of press, and was the superstar in Massachusetts. No one even knew Heather's name. Rocha's father was Heather's coach.
Heather worked her way up, had some difficult trials in life (even at the olympic trials, her family was not able to make it to watch her) and no one coddled her or considered her special. I love that she came storming in to claim a spot as one of America's best.
