That's a good excuse for him to avoid getting shellacked by Chepetegei and Mantz at the next World Cross Country (whenever that is) by DNSing.
Wow, you have elevated Mantz to the level of Chep and Kiplimo based on his NCAA wins? If you want to argue that JI can’t hang with the Kenyans and Ugandans in world cross, fair enough. The JI of today is stronger than he was in 2019. I’m just not clear how you could possibly put Mantz in the same conversation.
By the way, I didn't mention Kiplimo, and I didn't elevate Mantz to the level of Cheptegei. I mentioned Cheptegei because that's a good excuse for Jakob to DNS since he knows he doesn't do hills well, even in the context of cross country rather than mountain running. It happens that I'd also pick Mantz to beat Jakob in a cross country course like Aarhus. Let see if Bathurst 2023 turns out to be hilly, and if Jakob shows up (and Mantz, and Cheptegei).
