Too funny. Ivy league rowing YT might also be able to get by on Patreons
I wonder if Seth, in order to break through the 3 hour mark, needs to ditch the diet too. His borderline eating disorder like obsession with eating 'well/clean' leaves him zero wiggle room with his body. I'm sure I've heard even the Kipchoge's let it go in between race preps then dial it in and drop a few pounds as the race gets closer. Seth likes to red line everything (except speed work) and it means there are no more gears to shift in to when he needed, other than going harder, crashing and going home devastated to the subscriber dollars Oldrunningguy is contributing to be able to post a stick of butter to the comments.
Anyone knows the secret to a proper training block is to keep it to yourself. Do what works for you, get the work done, allow yourself bad days, stay focused, live a well-rounded life that lets your mental space breathe.
Seth leaves no time for any of this. He's filming and editing all day, and when he isn't, he's artifically positioning his life so he has something to film and edit. There's no time for self-reflection. so instead of eating properly, building in speedwork, and finding a local race where his family can attend, he's all 'Eat like a bird! Race major races where they don't know who I am! Must feed content machine!" While oldrunningguy watches every video as soon as it comes out, and cackles to himself over how triggered the LRCers must be as Seth describes his new training block of 180-mile weeks, 30-mile mountain runs with strides at the end of his street, and a dietof bobos and birdseed.
In other words, you can be a serious marathoner, or a daily YouTube content generator profiting off video-addicted fans. You can't be both.
