The only use for Led Zeppelin is to draw out the most-hated subclass of entitled late boomers to be bombarded with even more well-deserved hate. These delusional party animals would think a pack of rabid pigs were great musicians if they somehow sold lots of records and built a scene around themselves.
That's the secret to any kind of band worship. You might as well say the Grateful Dead were great because you wasted 10 years of your life roaming around in a VW bus high as a kite listening to them, talking about them, living in their world. If your band is what's on at the party, the drunken revelers will worship you. That's all Led Zeppelin ever was. Nothing great about them. Their guitar player was nothing special. Their vocalist (he's no singer) was average.
The best indictment of the Zeppelin was the 80's band that named itself after them, Deaf Leopard (to insult them I refuse to spell it their way) is the most forgotten band of its era, despite its amazing run of multi-platinum singles of different versions of basically the same song from their album Hysteria. As the 1980's ended, MTV made it official: Hysteria, with its familiar airplane opening scene, was the #1 video of the decade, beating out other worty contenders like Dire Straits Money for Nothing and Michael Jackson Thriller. Now that song is nothing. It's garbage, just like their own idols Led Zeppelin. Everyone who likes them or Zeppelin is garbage too.
You'll run into them at any parties with boomers of course, usually friends with the morans who say they only like the Bon Scott AC/DC. These people have no lives! They'll hate on me but that only proves it.
Not that you're bitter or anything.
Right? 30 years later and he's still enraged that MTV didn't crown Michael jackon's Thriller "Video of the Decade". smh
