Remember, Noah Ngeny only beat El G in that Olympic final. Nowhere else.

Needs to beat Timothy 11 more times to even the score.
Timothy 12
Jacob 1
Tim is 12:1 up in this rivalry... while Jakob will win more, Tim will not be shut out... injuries will affect both of them and leave the door open
Potato Tim is going to bust a 3:26xx soon. Watch.
i dont think he has,and i dont think he will necissarily be favourite.injury will get him sooner or later. There will always be new kenyans, and new ethiopians, new ugandans as well, who may beat him.perhaps a north african or two as well.also whose to say china wont be in the mix,one day?theyve got the population for it,and theyve produced good distance runners before.theyre slowly on the rise in sport.its only a matter of time before they start producing world class track athletes again.

I mean Tim led 1000m in this race and was spent for the last 100m. On the circuit he only has to lead 400-500m. It’s a lot easier task, see El Guerrouj’s record with a pacer and without.

Worked perfectly for Jakob! What a talent. He’s only getting better. Would love to see him go for the 5000m at the next Olympics or possibly doubling if the schedule allows.
Coe has said several times that the 2022 Worlds schedule will be set up to allow for more athletes to attempt the “traditional doubles” (his words).
I have assumed this means
100-200
200-400
400-800 (although that’s not very traditional)
800-1500
1500-5000
5000-10,000
Don’t know how the 100/110h, 400h, and 3kSt play into any traditional doubles, if at all.

Most fans only count head to head races vs two guys both in their prime. Nobody cares that Ovett and Coe routinely whipped Cram between 78 and 81 when Cram hadn't reached his prime. Nobody counts those victories when deciding who was better - Coe or Cram.
The thing is, Jakob is only moving in to his prime this year. So it's really 1 - 1 for any meaningful head to head (and Jakob was at 90% in Monaco this year).
The rivalry started today.

You said Tim would never beat Jakob again, and now you say "the rivalry started today". Which is it?
I believe the rivalry started after Monaco last year.
Don’t really need to move the goalposts. These guys thankfully run against each other a decent amount. Every Monaco and would suspect 2-3 other meetings at least per year highly possible…maybe even more if they get invested in DL money. If Jakob turns the tables he’ll potentially pad his stats 2026 and on
Only 14 days until the rematch.
Hopefully Tim won't decide to call it quits on the season because of his hamstring.

I think you will be wrong again El K as you have been before in relation to Jakob. Remember your remarks about Georg Manangoi didn´t fear Jakob but rather Justus Soget!
Are you aware that Jakob is much faster than El- Guerrouj was in the same age? Almost 3 seconds faster.
And El-G. ran 3:28.91 at 22; Jakob ran 3:28.68 at 19!

You are all saying the rivalry started when Jakob was a kid and continued fir 10 straight defeats, and now you're saying if Jakob wins every future race it's no rivalry. Which is it?

Warholm the 400m burdles/800 double and Jakob the 1500/5000.
Imagine the salty tears here if that happened!

Only if Gjert's enhanced raindeer milk keeps Jakob all powerful, and Tim at zero future wins. If Tim wins 5 more head-to-heads during the "competition" (Jakob doesn't duck) then Jakob would need get to the line before Tim 17 times to "win" and make his daddy's dream a reality.

This is such a ridiculous statement and he’s only setting himself up to eat crow in the future. This is sport. You can’’t have a 100% record, else there would be no need for the competition to show up.
Look. I don’t think Lamont Marcell Jacobs is the new Bolt or that Sifan Hassan will always finish ahead of Gidey and Obiri. I definitely don’t think Jakob is the new El G. Such a stupid and ungracious remark.
We all know you, bitter and angry. Gjert is simply talking in a highly emotional state. He always does this during and after races, he gets so nervous that he just talks. He absolutely doesnt mean this and know far more about Tims abilities than you, respect them far more too.
The way you talk down Jakob though...its pretty weird and I think you know it to be false. A 20 year old generational talent with training principles perfect to not burn out athletes, working perfectly on this generational talent which is yet to stop improving? Come one....you don't even believe yourself!

👆 Truth!
Which will say:
Norwegians are pretty boring, shy and nice. One of the nations in the world with most trust between their inhabitants. Paying enormous sums to their immigrants in support.

Jakob beat Timothy today because he - as usual - is one level up from the previous year. Since he was less than 0.3 seconds behind Timothy last year it´s only logical he is in front now.
I am aware that Timothy ran faster in Monaco but I guess Jakob had run well under 3:28 in Monaco had he not had a throat infection shortly before.
But we will see in the Bowerman mile in Eugene 14 days from now where they are both listed. Hocker isn´t in yet but I hope he will participate too. Centro, Hoare, Heyward, Musagala, Jye Edwards and Filip are already listed along with Timothy and Jakob.

So Jakob's "throat infection" is an excuse but Tim's hamstring, which is still bothering him, isn't? You folks are hilarious.
