There are certainly a lot of workout warriors on strava! You get the ones who run at 7 or even a few 6 minute miles during their regular runs and then go and "race" a 41 minute 10K. LMAO.

Strava is a feel good thingy.
It makes people feel good when they get Kudos from many others after their run.
They feel even better when they see how many calories they burned. And have two beers too many afterwards. Of course these numbers are highly overrated because Strava is there to make you feel better.
All of my running friends in my running group are using it. They have no idea how proper training would look like. They suck at their races but they don't know it because they get so much good feedback from their strava peeps.
I take it you've never been on a cruise around the Caribbean, we went on a few years ago and the Americans were horrific, think they have money because they are on a cruise, shouting at everyone and demanding to be at the captains table, joke of a population.
I think you're projecting your insecurities a bit here. Nobody really gives a crap what you're doing. People only care about what they are doing. Nobody is looking at your training logs in depth to make judgements like that. Stop being so self-conscious and train however you like.
For what it's worth, I love Strava. I think I'd sooner get rid of all my other social media before Strava, since I just follow runners anyway. For those of you getting upset at seeing other people's training, just unfollow them. If you're upset, you care too much about Strava. Running isn't that serious guys. You put in the work, that's it. All my runs sync automatically and I don't spend much time overthinking other people's training.
True.
As is Facebook, Instagram, etc... Post and wait for a compliment or pat on the back, that's all most of it is about. Runners do it all the time and then if someone disagrees with anything they post, they are a troll or a hater. Haven't looked at a Tweet, Instagram post, Facebook comment in years and won't ever again.
Example: Goucher>>>posts a picture of herself or a comment on the new shoes and you better agree or say great things about her photo or else:):):):)...for the most part it's insecurity, period, just like Strava (did you see what I did---but wait, you didn't comment?).
Imagine being such a pathetic fragile snowflake that you would make a post mocking people out enjoying the sport. GFYS
Yeah heaven forbid someone post details about a run in A F'ING RUNNING LOG.
I need to do some manicuring of my own.
I think Strava is fun. It's my only social media. I don't mind the walkers who take lots of pictures. They balance out the serious runners (fellow amateurs) who continue to work hard and improve. Mainly I keep track of people I know in real life to see how their training is going as they prep for their next big race.
1) It is the most convenient and nicest "workout log".
2) Easy to analyze your workout progressions from recent to way back.
3) Some social aspect who is out there the same routes and getting club members or friends following each other.
4) Keeps up with various cross training too.
5) Follow pros and elites that you are fans of or just learn from their workouts.
6) Segments are OK, but I use it more to compare my past runs.
They could improve the social aspect like building a local club. You can create a club, but Strava won't promote it at all. You can only grow it word of mouth or through outside social media. I grew a group for our town by buying targeted Facebook ads criteria being users within our town interested in running.
Dead.
I've never been interested in using Strava. I can live without it.
I love it. What do you participate in, Gwegory?
Triggered. I bet you hammer all your runs at 7 pace for a 39 10K, don't you? Slow ass.

Bunch of 25 MPW people with 22min 5k prs running every easy run at 7 min pace. And they all compliment each other for how fast they are every day and probably look down on actual fast runners who take easy days slowly.
That's your typical letsrun poster.
John Walker ran a 3:49.4 mile in 1975. The next year he won the gold medal at the Olympics in the 1500m. I wonder how much of a better runner he would have been if he had Strava?
Strava is woke (January 6, “equity”, “non binary athletes) but the best source of run tracking. I also enjoy the friend aspect
Today came across a 45 y.o man doing regular 20 and 15 mile long runs each week to run a 17:50 5K. Injuring coming your way...
It is a journal to track my exercise, analyse my fitness, and discover new trails and routes.
What is 8ant is social media. I keep my runs private from everyone including my real life friends and follow no one.
