Kipchoge still ran this last 15 km in under 3 minute pace lol.

Watching a marathon is like watching NASCAR. You turn it on to watch the last couple laps or in a marathon I'd say after 2 hours it's safe to turn on.
This sh!t is flat out horrible to watch. At least NASCAR has a crash or two. Maybe if a few marathoners would fall down and trip up other runners to crash and skid on the wet pavement that might be an improvement.
If you want to take a nap just watch one of these two things. Terrible.

My thoughts on the ear thing: The ear blockage could be cerumen impaction, which is essentially ear wax buildup. If you have a lot of wax and water gets in your ear from a shower, pool, or in this case rain then it does indeed cause a ‘blockage.’ This isn’t painful, but try talking, walking, running, or racing with one finger plugging your ear. It is a very strange feeling and can greatly impact equilibrium.
Having one finger plugging your ear would mess up your arm swing so not quite apples to apples.
I'd watch the women for 2 hours no prob.
He wasn't the only one shivering after the race...this is normal in those conditions

I was pointing out that plugging your ear with your finger mimics the feeling of cerumen impaction.
Kipchoge ran in the prototype version of the Nike Vapes for years and we didn't realize the huge advantage he had. Now he has to compete without the huge shoe advantage he previously had, because everyone has them now.
When he was winning everything, he had a secret 3 minute advantage over the competition. He is still the best ever, but not by as much as it appeared. Three minutes is a huge advantage to have at the top of the world level.
PS It all became very obvious when an old, over the hill, and now somewhat lazy Bekele put on the shoes for the first time AND got a bad side stitch and fell off the pack, yet came back and missed Kipchoge's WR by only a second. Those shoes are magic and if everyone had them when Kipchoge had them, he would have lost several of the 13 marathon wins.
