And if the host isn't allowing livestreams, that's inexcusable by the host venue, and an inexcusable choice of venues by BTC. Just inexcusable.

They aren't allowing BTC to livestream it. What makes you think that Bowerman would lie about that?
1) Because there are no covid or venue rules prohibiting livestreams.
2) Because their post does not indicate that the venue won't allow a livestream. It simply says they won't do it, which in 2020, is inexcusable.
Are you saying that the host doesn't have the right to say that a condition of using their track is not live streaming it, or are you saying that the host did not say that, or both?
Both statements are wrong.

I have really come to hate this team. Everyone complained about AlSal being super controlling he was nothing compared to this crew.
What else would you have them do during a pandemic??? Honestly, what would make you happy?
Let's Run.com: Where world class athletes get ripped on by world class nobodies.

Just using a little common sense here, but if the venue wants to limit the number of people there, livestreaming might not be the safest option. Also, they haven't set the time and/or won't announce that information for the same reason.
Go to Ernesto's Italian Restaurant this evening and request a window table along the westside of the dining room. You will be able to watch the whole event from that vantage point and enjoy a nice dinner.

It only takes one person with a phone to do a livestream. There is absolutely nothing unsafe about it. Sorry but there is just no excusing that. It's inexcusable.

That would be a great suggestion in 1920. But it's 2020 and I expect a livestream on the internet. Any less is inexcusable.
Not streaming it will actually increase the number of attendees. I woukd be there if I could drive it. Many people woukd be happy tonwatch from their living room but now will have to show up. This has to be a silly concern of this liberal team that they don't want to be seen hugging and high fiving.

It's a stipulation of the host, not the team. Not sure how many times that needs to be pointed out.
You can keep saying it but we don't believe it. You don't really know. The venue cares if somebody is streaming it on their phone? Are they charging admission? That woukd be the only reason that they woukd prohibit it.
What is their motivation or obligation to livestream it? They clearly do not need to monetize it. Based on most LRC commenter's sentiments regarding Nike athletes, they feel no need to do it for you or anyone else on this board. Perhaps not overhyping this allows the athletes to run without any pressure? Maybe Jesuit HS doesn't want any traffic or crowd issues in this environment? After last week's Nico Young/Runners Space amateur livestream crapshow, perhaps they opted not to suffer a similar fate?
Choose to be a fan or not. No athlete, coach, or club owes you anything. It's 2020 - give up your entitled point-of-view and instant gratification mentality.
Guess is most of the guys will run 5 km having just come off of training block then run shorter distances afterwards and then maybe 5 km again as their last race.

A livestream of the race, even if by phone. Any less is inexcusable.
Because you feel like they owe it to you, or what?

I do really know because I've been told as much. Others wouldn't know for sure other than taking BTC's word, for which they'd have no incentive to lie about.

You’re one angry little guy.
The obligation is to themselves and future athletes. Growing the sport creates opportunities and fans and sponsors. These meets should be taking full advantage of the lack of sports by hyping it up and getting ESPN to show up. People want sports and guys would watch if they advertised it seeing attractive women moving quickly in skimpy clothes. These athletes will be whining in a year or 2 if sponsorships dry up.

Yes. They owe it to their fans to watch them compete. That is the entire purpose of professional sports.
Pandemic shut down is not the time to try to “build viewership”. No one is flipping through their tv channels and stopping on a track meet for more than 20 seconds, especially if they’ve never been involved in track before. It’s 2020, people just hop on their phones or watch Netflix. This idea that running is suddenly going to become some huge sport in America isn’t a reality. The only way athletics will ever have some significant placing in American households is if we get an increased amount of kids involved in running and waiting till they grow up. USA had the 100,200,4x100,4x400 champs at Doha. If you asked 100 people on the street who Noah Lyles, Christian Coleman, Michael Norman, or Fred Kerley are maybe 3 people would recognize those names. And that’s for the sprints, distance running is a whole lot less popular

That kind of mentality is why the popularity of track has gone to the gutter. It's impossible to be a fan.
