That said, I honestly could not care less about Kenyan and Ethiopean distance runners anymore. I used to, but they broke my heart too many times with the drugs.
I assume they're all cheating now.
Wish I *could* be a fanboy about them but nah those days are over. Track lost a fan.
That's not "organizing Israel's defense." Folks in the U.S. and Israeli militaries are making suggestions about how to do it, and you're making phone calls to make it work. You get credit for diplomacy, sure.
I'm VERY certain that we already give politicians (and they so often TAKE!) WAY too much credit for stuff that other people are doing. I think that it's good to call BS when their roles are overstated.
Analogy:
"Obama killed Osama."
No, about a million folks figured it out and made a plan. A small number of people carried it out. And a much, much smaller group risked their lives in it.
Obama gets credit for saying "Go," and whatever diplomatic things he did before or after.
One just doesn't go too far with it. I'm POSITIVE that none of their ego's need any undo additional help from the media and others about their relative contributions to good things.
ok so you are talking logistics on the ground.
I'm talking the whole package, esp getting governments to agree. Diplomacy.
Semantic disagreement.
Well, not mainly logistics. Air defense. I'm not an expert, but I have zero doubt that figuring out how multiple militaries will shoot down hundreds of different things (of multiple types) taking multiple paths (and yes, over multiple countries) is a BIG freakin' challenge. And Joe Biden and 99.9999% of humans have no clue about how to do that. And I tend to suspect that some diplomatic phone calls to get permission for some of it don't deserve real heavy play in the overall apportionment of credit.
And even to the extent that they might, a writer/reporter is still careful not to make it sound like the political leader had much more of a role in defense intracacies than he did.
That Well-Adjusted Biden Guy @What46HasDone Anyways, Joe Biden once again prevented a major escalation by successfully organizing Israel's defense against Iran's attack and talking Netanyahu down from a major response and now both Israel and Iran are eager to move on. He was right, you all were wrong. For the 1000th time. 6:53 AM · Apr 19, 2024 · 18.3K Views

Well, still, Sisay's never going to have hair dye running down his face during a press conference like a certain (FORMER!) "American hero" discussed on this thread and others.....

come on man
no one is saying joe is advising on where to put anti-missile defense batteries. to say people think that is absurd. No one thinks that.
we're talking about the diplomacy. the work to get countries to work together. Joe did that.

Reminds me of when Trump turned "Namibia" and "Zambia" into "Nambia" and certain people raked him over the coals. It's a modest slip of the tongue by someone who has to talk a lot.
Following Trump's claim that he needs absolute presidential immunity, three more groups applied for similar immunity.
SURGEONS: “Without immunity we will be forced to do our jobs correctly. We refuse to work under such harsh and ethical conditions. If we are sued every time we cut off the wrong leg, that will force us to only cut off the correct leg, causing undue stress.”
DRUNK DRIVERS: “We demand immunity from any accidents we cause. We believe that accidents are a natural part of driving while intoxicated. If we face legal action every time we run someone over, we will still do it, but it will lesson our enjoyment.”
CRIMINALS: “Without absolute immunity, we face the prospect of incarceration every time we commit a crime. This is unAmerican and will greatly diminish our ability to explore murder, burglaries, and other forms of employment.

It's the quote from someone else that you posted, Agip: Anyways, Joe Biden once again prevented a major escalation by successfully organizing Israel's defense against Iran's attack"
Joe simply did not organize Israel's defense.
It's just a dumb thing to write.
I'm sure that there are a thousand different/better ways to write what you think he meant. Moreover, given the very high degree of military illiteracy in the U.S. (and world?), it's quite possible that the writer DID think that Biden's tactical role was more than it was. And EVEN MORE possible that militarily illiterate and/or dumb readers would think so.
And again, back to the over-inflation of public figures, I'll always argue for being real careful about giving politicians (or anyone else) more credit than they deserve.

Except that I'll be that Biden DOES know which continent those countries are on. MAYBE EVEN roughly where!
Trump? Please.
Trump's understanding of geography: NYC, Mar a Lardo, Little People America, Shi*hole Countries.
