She certainly is the best of the Europeans and Americans. Valby did ok (beating semi-injured Brits) and broke 31 in an international race with a rather conservative race plan. Schweizer is nowhere near the runner she was before she was injured. Kelati at least took a shot at winning glory.
Eh I think Schweizer is actually getting back to that level. 9th matches her highest ever world final placing (9th, Doha)
If, IF, that was Battocletti's only race and she had run that 10K and at the end of it collapsed and needed CPR then maybe, MAYBE, I'd allow 1% of my being to entertain she was clean, BUT, she has two 5k's in her and that 10k and she out kicks some of the best distance runners in the world twice AND she crosses the line and saunters around the track waving to the crowd. It's OFFENSIVE how blatant and egregious what I'm seeing is.
I don’t know if she’s clean or not. But she did the same after the Europeans - she barely looked out of breath afterwards with a huge sprint finish.
Man pretty solid run from all the Americans tbh. I would have thought Kelati could have hopes of a top 5 finish if all went right because she seems more on Monson's level IMO, but 9th for Karissa and 11th for Valby is really fantastic.
I was expecting more aggression from Kelati in the last k. Maybe that was all she had today.
Yeah, hard to know. She probably would have preferred a faster pace from the gun. 15:51 - 14:58 is a rough way to run 30:50.
Battocletti outkicking some Africans in a slow (30:43) race is more believable than a lot of performances at this Olympics and a lot more believable than Chebet running 28:54.
Absolutely idiotic tactics by the Africans, handed medals to Battocletti and Hassan. How can the Ethiopians not manage to coach tactics to their athletes. That woman running the first 800 in 2:02 in the 1500 repecharge another prime example. Brainless.
