St. X, Lancaster and HD are all grouped together, but I'm a little surprised Mas. Jackson is so far ahead of those teams in 2nd. I thought they'd be closer to being lumped in with those other three teams.
Any big conference battles going on this weekend with ranked teams?
As far as central ohio goes, the central division has HD, Coffman, and Orange which will be a good team battle. Ackley should have no problem picking up the win. The capital division has Westerville North and Kilbourne battling for a win which are 2 ranked teams. Gabelman, Bracken, Miller, Smith and Day all fighting for the individual win, although Day and Bracken will likely be 4-5 in that group. Other than that nothing crazy in Columbus.
Even at 4th Lancaster is not getting the respect that they deserve. Unless someone shows otherwise, they should be 2nd.
St X has also not done enough to deserve that ranking. They're still an unknown, IMHO.
My top 5 would be - 1. Mason 2. Lancaster 3. Jackson 4. Davidson 5. St X
I may even put a team lower than St X ahead of them if I thought about it enough.
Looks like St X's injured guys from last years team are progressing. One ran 16:38 last weekend. He ran 16:06 last year. Adding him to the fold by state would definitely increase their prestige. I'd give them the benefit of the doubt given their history. They'll be there by the state meet. I would have Mason, Lancaster, MJ, X and TSF not HD.

I have to ask, why no HD? And why TSF? Didn’t TSF get beat pretty bad by Coffman, who lost to Davidson? Davidson seems to have guys progressing really well in the 4-5 spot after their race in Tennessee.

Spread from 1-5 for HD will kill them at the state meet unless they fix it. It's over a minute. Same with Coffman. Sometime regular season match up don't reflect how it will be at the state meet. there will be almost 100 guys go back in a minute at the state meet.
The other thing is that you say HD’s split will kill them, but HD’s 5 is better than Jackson’s. Why would you have Jackson above HD if Jackson has a worse 5 and doesn’t have the front runner in Ackley?

Well, I guess we'll get a glimpse this weekend when HD races Pickerington North, who ran well at Eisenhart (3 under 16, albeit on a fast course) and DeSales, who has been flying under the radar all fall. I wouldn't be surprised if this ends up being closer than people think.

I'm not sure I'm there with you, to put that 16:38 in context that was behind GlenOak's #3 and GlenOak isn't expected to be a top 5 team. St. X may get there by the state meet, but they still have a ways to go. I think it will be either Lancaster or Jackson behind Mason, I agree HD has issues at #5 and I don't think TSF is quite as good as the teams ahead of them.

I think this really down plays St. X’s Terre Haute performance. That was a great race for them as a team and I think shows they should at the very least be top 5.
In the girls' race, Mason's Efa Paschka, a freshman, got the better of Lakota West's Evelyn Prodoehl, a sophomore. Those two will have some good track & XC battles in the future.
The GCL & GGCL meet was also held today. St X never runs their top 7 in the meet since the conference is relatively weak. Ever since the glory days of LaSalle, St X has been about it.
