This reminds me of an expression, "sometimes when you are surrounded by a$$holes, the a$$hole is you..."
I can adapt that wisdom to this situation as follows: "sometimes when you think everyone around you, and the world as a whole, are wrong, look in the mirror you may be mistaken..."
That'll be another $0.02 please. You are building a big tab, maybe need to settle up soon...
Some good news on inflation and this thing is a rocket. This is a hated, hated market. Be sure being a 'contrarian' means what you think it means.

Does not change the fact that the claims you have made about what I have said and think are all wrong.
9/8/22: The European Central Bank (ECB) announced an interest rate increase of 75 basis points – matching the US Federal Reserves’ last bump – as it targets a 2% rate of inflation. The rate increase was the largest ever in the history of the ECB. The ECB said that inflation hit 9.1% in August as rocketing prices in many staples undermined economic activity, impacting both consumers and businesses.

Any good news on inflation will fade away when people in the NE start getting their heating oil bills this winter. Not to mention the massive contraction in consumption that will occur in Europe this winter as people starve / freeze to death from food and energy shortages.

eh I won't go with that.
IF heating bills are very high this winter, then that will take money out of the pockets of consumers, who will spend less on goods and services, which will reduce demand, which will reduce inflationary forces, which will allow the Fed to stop rising interest rates. Which will be good for stocks.
Europe I dunno. I wish them well but I sold almost all my european shares a while ago. They are in for some things. Although it's rarely as bad as people think. Those countries are so rich that they will find a way.
Today’s Zillow report has the value of our home down 4.5% in last 30 days, and 20% lower since May of this year. I suspect the drop closer to 30% or more if I had to sell. Houses in the neighborhood that are for sale keep marking their prices down, and none have sold in months.
Earnings Scorecard: For Q2 2022 (with 100% of S&P 500 companies reporting actual results), 75% of S&P 500 company reported a positive EPS surprise and 70% of companies reported a positive revenue surprise.

your area seems to have been among the spikiest up...it was a good run while it lasted, eh?
Have a good weekend Igy. Hope you can get out and enjoy some cooler weather. In the Porsche, natch.

now is a critical period for earnings ests...they do seem to be coming down but the question is how much and whether it is just lowballing from companies.

Love it. I just love it.
Enact a period of boom-like price appreciation, and it is viewed (by some) as some kind of unsustainable bell-weather indication of bad fiscal policies and impending calamities.
When they cool off and come back to earth, holy-cow! The sky is falling, and yet further evidence of poor fiscal policies domestically (if the other party is in office).
Get with the program. Or not. Just don't expect the rest of us to believe it.
And double that on enjoy this lovely seasonal weather this weekend, fwiw.

Thanks agip. We have forrest fires to the northwest. Air quality is horrible, the worst in a couple of years. Wife and I postponed the morning walk, hopefully we can get it in tomorrow. I opted for an indoor swim.

^At the high point our place market value was about triple from purchase price in 2013. I would say about double now; so we have dropped by a third. In today’s mail received a realtors flyer with some listings well above what I think would sell in the current market. My preferred plan is to die in my place, so none of this market moves matters, except for my heirs.
