wouldn't this be a hoot? If team transitory finally gets the last laugh? If the Aug 10 CPI print is just 3-4%?
I do think the best parallel here is the post-WW2 inflation spike that dissipated quickly. Although their war was over...we still have some covid and an actual war. So we aren't out of the woods.
Carl Quintanilla @carlquintanilla FUNDSTRAT: The @ClevelandFed ’s inflation forecast “now shows July CPI tracking to 0.27% .. This is .. 3.24% annualized .. the lowest rate since January 2021 .. a collapse from the 9%-12% annualized rates seen in all of 2022 ..” - @fundstrat
NASDAQ finished last 3 days of last week up around 7%. It is almost 8% if you include today so far. I am hoping it can finish this week and the last 3 days of last week up 12%. Optimistic but that would be a significant comeback.

GOLDMAN: "The [ISM] prices paid measure fell by 18.5pt to 60.0, the fourth largest monthly decline since the series began in 1948."
The people who really run America will not allow the return of Trump.
The question is why?
The reason is because he is a traitor. But you and Igy can continue your man crush and be considered the same. The rest of us still value the truth and patriotism. 🇺🇸

“Patriotism is the last refuge of scoundrels.”
—Samuel Johnson
Igy, though I am sure you didn't intend to, you couldn't have picked a more perfect descriptor for Trump.
Igy, you really need to do your homework before posting.
”This line was not, as widely believed, about patriotism in general, but what Johnson considered to be the false use of the term "patriotism" by Wilkes and his supporters. Johnson opposed "self-professed Patriots" in general, but valued what he considered "true" patriotism.”
apparently the market is down today just in case WW3 breaks out when Pelosi's jet lands.
reminder that through the first six months of the year, as the world economy seemed to be collapsing....earnings estimates for 2022 have *risen.* And manufacturing has continued to expand at a decent clip. While all the world was saying the nation's economy was shrinking...companies' forecasts of earning did not fall, but they rose.

My “target,” if you want to call it that, remains unchanged at $16k. I have no firm basis for that number. There was no modelling involved…
Thx. Still feel good about pulling the trigger on that one, should it dip to that level?
Dunno. I set that level way back, more than a year ago I think. It got pretty close last few weeks. For now, it's a hypothetical question. If the price gets below $16k, ask me again then. I'll admit I worry a bit about finding a way to buy BTC directly without either being scammed or holding it through an exchange that might not survive further price gyrations.
Do any of the main regulars in this thread hold BTC or other digital currencies? I don't mean indirectly through GBTC or something similar, but actual digital coins.

I bought BTC at $3k and ETH at $90 so I'm still way up on those two. Bought LTC at $46 so not doing quite so well there but still positive. Not planning on buying any more, just gonna let it ride and see what happens.
Boy that was close. The market was sure worried the PLA would shoot down Saggy’s plane. For a moment it looked like Igy’s 4,150 bear market rally top was spot on. Now we’ll just have to wait.

Meanwhile Pauly P is loading up on LM and BA as Saggy promises Taipei more weapon systems. Somethings never change.

Yes, I have, a couple of years ago.
I used a device that amounts to something akin to a portable USB drive and looks very much like that. It was called a crypto cold wallet and it was a major headache and had a 40-word passcode that you have to hide like it was nuclear bomb football detonator.
Before the crypto crash of a couple of years ago, i got out of that and never went back. Last time i dabbled with it, I just held it in my crypto exchange account, which is infinitely simpler, though we know the risks involved. Also, I tried holding it at Paypal but even though one would think they are fairly secure, their fees are too high.
Big waste of time in the final analysis, if not a big waste of other things, for that matter.
Let me do you a solid by telling you setting any of these things up is a major commitment and if you do it wrong, you can easily lose everything.

Igy, why does Nancy Pelosi deserve the nickname "Saggy"?
