I'm usually at 64% stocks...I'm about that now....I've been buying steadily for a month, heading toward 70-75%. I think after a disastrous 6 months like that we're due for a nice 3-5 years. esp after midterms clears up some uncertainty.
It''s certainly not too late to buy if you think the next few years will be good ones....stocks still down 18% from highs and tech much more than that.
Just getting back to even, if it takes two years, would be around a 9%/year return from here. Pretty good.
If you are looking for capitulation before you buy, Bof A thinks we had it. That drop in June was savage....12% in 10 days or something like that? That's enough to shake out a lot of weak hands.
Right. A 20% drop means a 25% gain getting back to all time highs. Buying when the market is down 20% is typically a very good thing to do if your timeframe for holding is 2 years or more. Still not convinced we won't see new 52-week lows, but it's also kind of hard to envision why things would get substantially worse from here.
Agip, agreed with that and thinking along the same lines. I've been buying back in for weeks now, albeit slowly, Like not exactly fractional shares via Robinhood slowly, but much slower than I had been doing some selling previously.
I guess the difference in approach from yours is that I was somewhat leveraged before as you may recall. I'm not anymore but may move back into that slightly if things continue on current trajectory.
Funny but I almost find myself wishing it would dip in order for better re-entries.
Anyone besides Igy (and maybe carmine?) think this is a bear market rally?
I do not know. But I do think that prices will be significantly higher in 2-3 years. Isn't that the better way to look at it than trying to pick a bottom?

Sure it is, but that's why you pull in the big bucks and us hacks are grasping at straws.

Yes, I agree with that. I just was curious what other folks were speculating on the near term. Unfortunately, I may have to sell some shares soon to cover some unexpected expenses. Hoping to squeeze by without doing that, though.
