i remember the hype, Willis, Whittaker and Goriorian(definitely spelled wrong) got out of hs. One of them to break thru so quickly while the other two are coming on is good to see

Willis has won an NCAA Championship. Gorriaran just won U20 and is going to Peru. Good for all of them.
man, this is why you make as many standards as possible. Mu was the fastest 400m runner in the country, she could run that event as backup if she raced this year and had a trials qualifying time....
Agree, but the 4/8 double is not possible at trials.
That is a really hard way to lose for Mu. You can see that she is visibly upset post-race, but I also can't help but feel that part of this is down to such a limited racing schedule. Opening your season at the trials is not a smart choice. I hope that she re-groups and finds herself a new coach after this season.
“Defending olympic champion who clearly doesn’t have enough racing experience, have you considered that if you raced more you wouldn’t have been tripped? 🤓🤓☝️”
I don't think anyone here is saying she doesn't have enough racing experience (I certainly am not). I think what people are saying is that there is difference between having experience and being in good racing form - and that Mu/Kersee were hanging their laurels on the former a bit too much. Getting tripped isn't always something you can do anything about but Mu was in the middle of a dense pack and, with her stride, that's not where you want to be. I think it's fair to say that with a few more races under her belt this season she might have had the wherewithal / instincts to avoid that sort of positioning.
Heartbreaking to see her like that but honestly this is what happens when you don't ever race. You forget how to navigate a pack when all you do is bust out reps on your own. You gotta have that race experience.
Good thing she never races so the 1500m isn't an option this year! Now she can focus on modeling!!
feel bad for Parker Valby she ran a brave race but she led the race for too long and the other gals fed off her pace end result is she missed the team. Bad mistake. She should have laid off the pace let someone else lead for a bit, it is a mistake that cost here the Olympics. Feel bad for her. There may never be a next time for her, life happens. So sad for her.

if she had a scorching 400m time though (which if she actually trained and raced seriously she likely would have the fastest 400m time in the country if not the world) she would be picked for the relay by the committee even if she wasn't entered in the 400. now they basically cannot do that.
mu was the 400m champ in college. its arguably her best event. anything can happen in the trials.
Death, taxes and sage hurta choking. Time to hang up the spikes and go to med school
She got messed up by the Mu fall, she tripped over her and ended up off the track.
She's tearing up in the press room and it seems extra crushing that the question directed at her is more about how she saw the fall. Craig Engels is crying in a clip. I can't take it! Thank god Letsrun is back at least.
Mu at her best is a well clear of that field when she cuts in so she never has to worry about being clipped like that. Feel awful for her because even off her game she was almost certainly making that team, but it speaks volumes she was even in that situation to begin with
solid 12 hour turnaround from the women's 5000 final to the 1500 heats the next morning. men have the same turnaround but from the 1500 to 5000, which I don't think will concern Jakob. Elle shouldn't have trouble with the 1500 heats, but that schedule really sucks
What are you talking about?? The women’s 1500 heats don’t start till Thursday.

But the 800/1500 is. Didn't Kersee promise last year that Mu would win both in the US trials?
Boling in the semi goes out too hard the first 200, fades, and sneaks into the final. Does not learn from his mistake and goes out harder in the final and fades even worse
How does he not ever learn this? I seriously don't get it.
I guarantee you that Kersee didn't want Mu's first race of the year to be at the Trials. He's crazy but not that crazy.
Mu was having problems, which is why she didn't race before this week. Whether it was a hamstring injury like Kersee claimed or something else I don't know. But there is no way that Bobby Kersee had a meeting with Mu at the beginning of the year and said "OK Athing, the plan is for you to open at the Trials."
