This thread was originally titled, "Incredible development in the $612,000 Transcon Goodge run, currently ongoing" but the new title is more descriptive. The description of the run is here.
Where is your proof that he is not running the distances?
And, what "rules"? To my knowledge there isn't a rule book that is sent out/available online for anyone attempting to break some record. Everyone has gotten butt puckered over some 54 yr old record. Others, claim that isn't the record. If no one can even agree on who has what record, how can there be a rulebook on what should be done?
For those that are saying it is all about the charity, I invite you to visit his nucalm web site. They are selling 19.99, 29.99 and 49.99 per month plans on Nucalm. And the crew (Robbie) are also "employees" of this brand. What they are selling makes the claim that one can recover super fast to unlock superior athletic performance. So you can appreciate that he must show himself being super lively and making this transcon look easy. All because of nucalm. Of course. Imagine the newfound revenue if they pick up 1-2,000 new monthly customers.
I don't mention this because there is anything wrong with him being a "for profit" transcon runner. But it does explain why they get irate at anybody questioning legitimacy.

It's a scam wether he runs it legitimately or not. He already claimed he's the fastest Englishman. He is sponsored by and promotes a scam company. His money raising methods are a scam. We here are mostly discussing this for entertainment value it still provides. Call us easily amused.
By the way, Goodge is called a world record holder on his company site. Just a world record holder, no information. Such a humble person. Quick google resulted in this gem:
"After completing the final marathon – and unofficially breaking the world record for 48 marathons – Mr Goodge said: “My feelings are hard to pinpoint as trying to think about the whole challenge is overwhelming."
I was never aware there's a world record for 48 marathons.
To put it into perspective, world record for consecutive marathons run on consecutive days is 607.
So basically, this guy will do anything to promote himself and will sell anything to monetize it. He's promoting a variety of placebos in pill and app form. But the worst to me is how he monetizes his own dead mother.
We saw Goodge’s side of the story in the video they posted. Goodge and his team did not look like kind trustworthy people in that video.
What is this "did not look like the trustworthy people" look like? Is this the same standard you apply to a group of teens?
-- Are they not "trustworthy" because they yelled/screamed? Did you see the part where Will C told them "I believe what you are doing is fraudulent" or when it told them what they are doing is criminal and he's going to report them to Scotland Yard (huh??) How would you respond to that type of claim? I'm a pretty calm guy, but I think I would get riled up a bit. Would you just "take" it and say "thank you for your thoughts"??
Hi all, here's an update on another thread about the British runner William Goodge doing Transcon at the moment and some worrying irregularities.Namely that he runs at 150-170bpm in the first two days of his multidayers, colla...

I’d respond the way “RossiCheated” suggested on the previous page of this thread:
If you are claiming to pursue a record of this nature, you should be: Posting all of the data from the watch Posting your route, where you currently are (up to the minute GPS), where you are heading for the day Welcoming anyone and everyone to come out, at any time, to cheer you on as you run by Welcoming anyone out to run behind you Welcome to have anyone follow along for as long as they please to verify that you are running, and encouraging them to video record whatever they want More than happy to have an observer with no relation to you or your team embedded in the team to record everything they see If you really are pursing this record and think you have a chance at it, you want all the eyes on you possible, to verify that you did it, to quiet the doubters, and so on.

Yeah, Will C created problems all by himself. I know I would have told Will C to get lost with the way he acted towards Goodge's group. Will C is not impartial at all but working from his already written conclusion that everything has to be fraudulent.
Lol. A 2 year old could pass the US test if they could reach the pedals. It's a joke compared to the UK one!
Wow, my post questioning Will C's driving ability got deleted. Didn't know we were that sensitive about questioning people's driving ability around here.

i must say, that whilst i commented negatively, i didnt think it needed deleting. it was just nonsense, it wasnt dangerously offensive.
I don’t have any judgement on the legitimacy of this run but it’s pretty funny that people on letsrun of all places which traffics in insulting and uncivil posting are suddenly clutching their pearls around people using “bad language” or yelling.

I would just say "prove it" and continue on my way. Am I missing something?
If they were running not for NuCalm but for NuRage, then yelling would be more appropriate, I guess.
Okay, that NuRage vs NuCalm line was pretty funny :) How else can they prove it? He is wearing a watch that tracks his every step and it is posted daily. My understanding is those live trackers are bulky (and if you haven't noticed, he doesn't wear/carry much).

He is wearing a watch and posting ALL of the data daily...He route and where he is going next is posted live. He does welcome people to come out -- I'll be running with him in the next couple of weeks. I was polite and asked...they sure absolutely! I didn't hurl insults and then say I'm coming to watch your fraud. But, I don't believe there is any fraud going on here. Is there someone out there who is willing/wanting to observe them everyday for the rest of the run? I highly doubt it. My goodness, they are releasing more than enough video and have hundreds and hundreds of hours of footage. Why would they be so transparent with all the video if it was a fake? That is the definition of crazy...and I don't believe they're crazy!
(and if you haven't noticed, he doesn't wear/carry much).
Except a full freaking body suit and baclava and sunglasses.
It was 30 )#*%)@*#)@*%)@&% degrees with a headwind...I wear a bacalava and cover up every inch of my body in that type of cold and wind. And if you can't tell that is him?? Come on now...

I agree that it appears crazy. Absurd even. And yet the data has a bizarre pattern to it that needs explaining.
To quote my post from #175 (page 9). This is one of probably 10-20 that explains the issue (including Lamey’s post on the previous page (post #547)):
”It's the pattern of the data that seems weird. Why are the irregularities only occurring during the three sponsored runs, across 4 years with various bits of kit, in exactly the same fashion, and never during events with a large number of witnesses? He's frequently getting up for his afternoon runs and putting down the same (or better) speeds with a 25%+ reduction in heart rate. AND this has diminished, or stopped, when Will has put pressure on his camp. I don't think this is a firm indicator of guilt, but something his camp are doing on a regular basis is leading to a consistent irregularity, and it needs to be explained.”
To emphasise this point, as pointed out by Lamey, Will’s data was clean when Will C was monitoring him, and it’s since gone back to him getting up in the afternoon and running faster times with a significantly lower heart rate. Why wasn’t this happening when he was being monitored - why hasn’t it EVER (across 3 events) happened when he was monitored?
