It's one of the most pernicious COVID-denier talking points. "Why is the focus on not XXX comorbidity"
Literally everyone in the US knows it's unhealthy to be overweight, to smoke, to have type II diabetes. We have massive prevention campaigns etc.
Time and time again research has show lifestyle changes are incredibly hard to prescribe, enforce, sustain, etc.
If there was a quick fix to American general health many industries would've jumped on it already.
Just because the right answer is hard to do, does not make it wrong. It is the right thing to do to lose weight, reduce sugar intake and abstain from smoking. If people did not do those things and they got covid, they would survive.
Its not pernicious. Its the truth.
Sometimes the truth hurts. I am sorry if you have friends or relatives who are fat, diabetic and smokers. Its not your fault. Its not my fault. Quit pretending to be moral.
The moral thing to do would be to tell them to get off their a*% and lose weight.
I am not getting an mRNA jab because someone made poor lifestyle choices for the last 20 years.
Oh and you also make this country a worse place.
