The COVID pandemic is over, but the plague that is social media continues to infect minds across the US.
You’re sadly mistaken if you think I have any affinity for Putin. He has played the West pretty affectively. And Racket, you are about the worst example of the plague of social media.
I'm not talking at all about Igy, but there is a clear affinity among right wingers to Putin and Russia. I don't know if it is because American right wingers prefer autocracy to messy democracy, or if they see Putin as a much-needed leader of the white race, or if they want Biden to fail, or they like to see fancy diplomacy fail, or if they are just bored and want some shooting videos to watch on you tube.
But geez it is disconcerting. The quiet nodding in appreciation toward Putin from the 'conservatives' in the US. Not good for the long-run future of the USA.
OK that's good to know. That wasn't obvious from your comment about little green men, from which I surmised you were implying it's all made up bogeymen, nothing to see there. I don't get much right, but I do know some stuff and things are pretty much falling into place as I suggested they would, at least the broad strokes. I tried to give you all, my little circle of DTGD acquaintances, my best advice, but I realize it's hard to know what freely given random yammering from an anonymous idiot on the internet has value.
You missed the historical satire. The “Little Green Men” was the name given to the Russian soldiers without identifying markers that moved into Crimea back in 2014. They were “peacekeepers” too.

Synopsis: Republicans suck!
That’s better, now we’re back on track👍.
Oil heading south, now I am being floated by my...financials!? Fascinating day, so far.
well that was classic retail 'throw everything over the side of the ship at the open'
green now, but barely.
The WH is suggesting more severe sanctions than the mild stuff. That could cause cyber attacks on US banks etc. buckle up.
Told you so.

explain the market makers part. Isn't all this electronic now? Few stocks have people making markets, right? I don't know much about this side of it. There used to be specialists on the floor who would keep flow going and had some influence but isn't that all gone now?

I always thought that heads of the trading platforms could intervene, though, even if order execution is electronic and algos play an big part, too. Of course, this is all behind the curtain stuff that we have little or no access to,
I don't think that market makers are any less prevalent than they ever were or are.

It's the end of the week already? :)
mmmmm, look at that yummy RSX...down over 11% today... US lawmakers are probably buying hand-over-fist at the moment.
They always feel sickening and more 'real' than the last one.
Human beings are not meant to be long-term investors.
but eventually the fear will run out of juice and buyers will return.
But historically speaking, 10% is nothing.
10% is nothing. I think back to 2008 and 2009 when the drop-off was about 40% or more. Even at the onset of Covid the Dow fell about 40% and quickly rebounded. The markets will rebound much faster than anyone here thinks. A few good days of good days and BOOM we return to record highs.

Remember that Trump trusted Putin over U.S. Intelligence. The RWNJs like Putin because Trump does.

WH labelled it "an invasion." That aligned in time with the jump to green.
Also, I guess I win the bet with racket, so I there's that...
Russian troops have been in and out of the Donbas region for the past 8 years. This is just barely above the status quo and Ukrainian soldiers haven't even been ordered to do anything yet.
