well the good news is that bond funds are now buying up bonds paying 2% and I'll be getting bigger dividends every month.
The bad news is ^**%^%^**(&^$%&*()_(^%$$

If you really are interested in things, read some Veblen. I recently made a contribution to his alma mater.
I read him back in the early 70s; you were about 6 years old.
Great, then you might know what I’m talking about.
Not sure what relevance my age at the time has to do with anything. Yeah, getting chippy in here. I suppose my mood might be opposite to that of most at the moment.
See, now I’ve written a grammatically nonsensical sentence because I hit post prematurely.

I blame the bears. They're trying to turn us against each other so their short positions will pay off, the sick fvcks
this has to be among the worst periods for bonds in US investment history.
Losing 3% in 4 weeks???? I mean come on. Has the economy changed that much in 4 weeks? I don't think so. Efficient market, by donkey.
In percentage terms it's nothing compared to stock market losses but that's a wild bit of economic history we are in.

Pretty obvious who is to blame for that, and it is not boomers or bears. Unless they reside at the Fed and the Capitol.
If AMZN rolls over you can bury this bull.

I would make a bet with you about how I think stocks will end the year high, but you'll just weasel out of it and claim "BIg bAD FEDEral rEseRve rIgGed tHe MARkEt" and then throw in a bunch of non-sequiturs about woke and/or cancel culture

I would like to hear you expand on this thought.
Please rant away!
Actually interested.
I follow TLT which is somewhat different but also down during that same period.
But surely you expected it to drop a bit, no?
lol I put a bunch to ride on FB, with a stop at 232
I feel like I'm at an OTB

hmm not sure there's much to it.
I doubt there have been many months in US financial history - outside panics - when a generic index of bonds has lost 3% of its value. Is that a 2 or 3 standard deviation event? I'm sure gente might have a better sense of it.
a move is deserved to some degree given the imminent QT and high inflation. But this seems extreme and maybe the machines pushing ETFs around.

I heard Melvin Capital, the giant hedge fund that had to be bailed out after shorting GME at exactly the wrong time....bought a truckload of FB last month.
Could be curtains for ol'Melvin. If true.
AMZN +16%, highs of the day.

I haven't caught up with reading the rest of the thread yet, but I gotta stop right here and say, that was a particularly good one, Igy! Like laughing out loud, good one.
Thx.
