yeah. Tsegay surely just expected a sharp elbow back. just part of racing. but to grab and pull her arm and yell at her? that's gotta be a DQ.
still, did Tsegay impede first? maybe. that doesn't excuse how Kipyegon responded.
happy for Battocletti!
Looks to me like Tsegay's arm started the whole thing. Tsegay didn't have the room to move in. I think Kipyegon had a right to protect her space. Kipyegon almost got pushed off the track. What was Kipyegon supposed to do? There was no room for her. I think she should be put back in for the medal. What Tsegay did was totally uncalled for. Look how the race turned out!
I agree with this. A simple push back didn't stop it. Tsegay wouldn't stop trying to move in. Kipyegon's only other choice would have been to slow down and let her move in. Tsegay's tactics can be so nasty. I don't think this was fair to Kipyegon at all.
the best runners were all running 20 mins ago. If she wasn't running there, she wasn't the best today.
Still, a win without the other powerhouse in the event feels like half a win. Kerr winning with no Jakob in the field would feel the same way.
tbh, I resent that opinion, but you do you.
Personally I think if you aren't there (at the highest level of competition on the entire earth), you simply aren't the best on that day, no excuses, no "could've" "would've" "should've".
That 800 was kind of a snooze-fest tbh Morra not in her best shape (allegedly), Reekie bombed out in early rounds, and the best runner left at home (Mu).
I am so happy that Keely finally got her gold. Very much deserved. Amazing job by Juliette Whittaker. She should be so proud of herslef.
1:55.88 in Tokyo for silver 1:56.72 in Paris for gold
So this year's race was a little slower. Might have been more exciting if Reeke had made it to the final. She seems to thrive on trying to run Keely down.
I hope we get to see another Athing vs Keely vs. Moraa match up when they are all 100%.

You run the race you're in, not the hypothetical race you'd like. All the hypothetical contenders had their chance to be there and didn't get it done. The system didn't fail the spectator, Keely ran the best consistently through rounds, and the races to qualify her to be there. Celebrate her, rather than pick at the race.
Can it, old man I understand how races are run. Anyone who has eyes will admit it would've been a better final with the other favorites in the race.
Too bad the Kipyegon DQ took away from Chebet's great run. She is having an incredible year. Dominant win in world XC, 10000 record and now a chance for the 5K/10K Olympic double.

You should can it. Moora not in her best shape tf out of here everyone says that when they lose, Reekie couldn't make it out of her round she would have done ZERO here and Mu ran over 2 minutes for her last race. She would have never made it to the final.

Can't argue about favorites not making the final with a poster named JamaAden

Since when did middle distance titles become about running blistering times? It never was, it was always about getting to and winning the final on the day. Plenty of world record holders have been well beaten in tactical races. I bet Seb Coe wishes the 800m in 1980 had been so dull, the best in the world by two seconds and he duffed it up in a 1:45 race. Records are for sponsors, gold medals are for champions.

She didn't even run a tactical race she ran fast and her PR is the fastest since Semenya. If someone was capable of beating her they would have passed her but no one could do that today. 1:56 is fast if it's paced and certainly fast in a championship race. Anyone who says otherwise is a clown.
Corrigan pissed his pants at the start line & He looked like he wanted no part of that. Mental check out.
Checked in at the back of the pack and pretty much stayed there. 8:36.67. Gotta wonder what his strategy was (stay out of trouble and hope that 5 of the athletes would do mass suicide into the water jump?).
Yo where was the 100m medal ceremony. I just heard it while watching pole vault but I can't find the video anywhere. Did they even braodcast it???? So stupid that it was not made a bigger deal and maybe not even broadcasted on NBC or peacock
