There is nothing impressive about a 17:24 5k. You probably raced yourself into fitness by doing parkrun. Come back when you are 15:xx.
This thread makes me laugh. It's like the scenes from the Moneyball book or film. All the old scouts and players sitting around banging their fists . "BASEBALL HAS WORKED FOR 150 YEARS" . "This is how we find great players". "Billy, you are destroying the game!!!!! This will never work". "Look at what the Yankees are doing, that's how you win!!!". Etc.
Ignoring the fact the greats will always be found, regardless. Much like the fastest runners. They have and always be quick on a wide range of training methods.
The A's never did get that world series. But they did change the game. Many other teams have copied to an extent how they built their teams and got better for it. Maybe the game has become more boring. I'd agree with that. Maybe this style of training in the thread is boring. I'd also agree with that. There's no style here whatsoever. However just because the guys aren't the ones winning the races, doesn't make it not the most optimal way to approach. Like the A's they are probably getting well above suspected value, for the talent they have. I'm a 14:xx guy and I could and will take something away from this thread.
