Come on, BTC, you can do it! $16k or bust! 🙂
I have no idea how to buy the stuff when it hits my imaginary target, I may need some help when we get there…

yeah part of the magic of that 1999 ad is that it boosted a stock that went to zero.

Crazy ideas eventually go to zero. So your imaginary target is likely just the beginning of a much lower move. But then again “fortune favors the brave.”

Remember the 'let's light this candle' ads from 1999?

Yeah, the Ameritrade ads were really good, but the Etrade babies ads get me laughing out loud every time. And there were a lot of them.

When I was a rookie, an advisor sold KM in a client’s account without authorization. The advisor was immediately fired. I was tasked with helping him move his personal possessions from the building. Out, fired, like a snap of the fingers. Dean Witter was like that.

nasdaq now down around 8% from its highs
straight tech down maybe 6%
pretty quick tech dropoff obviously. have to think we'll breach 10% down, at least.
SP500 down just 3% from its highs
That dividend fund SCHD is down only 1% or so from its highs.
You play in tech you have to expect this kind of volatility.

JK, I think I'll trim some if ARKK falls into the 70s. And buy back more on the next pump.

Yep - anyone paying attention knows this is just par for the course. Last year we had +/- 2% (or more) days all the time. It's just how it is now really.
A decidedly inauspicious start to the year, for both my bitcoin and my stupid trbcx, which dropped a full 3.61% yesterday, and looks to fall further today. It is performance like this that has caused me to avoid buy-and-hold. The amount in it is small but non-trivial, and the amount in bitcoin is tiny and house money—but 2022 is a disaster, so far. The winter of my discontent.
Although, dxy is holding steady above 96, now at 96.2. In 2021 it performed well, up about 7%, after having dropped by that amount in 2020. It is now where it was two years ago. Good thing I didn’t divest when I was tempted.
Having said that, buying opportunities are now beginning to present themselves, and decisions will have to be made.
Bitcoin has lost $500 billion in market value since the high. Someone has lost money.
