Grafter, Muir, can't grab a medal, but PRs in another global final (3:53.37). Unfortunately, it came at the expense of having Georgia Bell beat her to the line in a British national record of 3:52.61.
Muir lost a medal there by going out so slow. She had to expend so much energy getting back in touch with the pack. Still an awesome run for her
She didn't waste any energy.
She went at exactly the pace she planned, smashed her PB and was 20 metres from a medal. She didn't have to accelerate to catch up, she just stayed steady and waited for them to drop back to her.
Looking at the head to head results between St. Pierre and Hull in the indoor season sure is eye-opening compared to today. St. Pierre beat her in the mile at Millrose by 2.5 seconds and at World Indoors 3k by 3.5 seconds.
I think the point you're missing is that Fisher's progress has been clear and consistent over a number of years (same goes for SML, who others have thrown out there). If there is an American that suddenly shows up running 1:41s out of nowhere then I will call BS on it.
He ran a 28.30 10k last year at the trials lmao
Do you not understand the difference between racing at trials and racing for time? You sir are an idiot.
Hilarious how Americans are winning 800-10k medals out of nowhere and the forum is just full of people crying when any nation bar Kenya or Ethiopia wins a medal
The forum is full of Americans.
When they get beaten = "other nations must be doping."
When they get surprise medals and PBs = "nothing suspicious going on here."
Which medals were surprises other than Rooks (in the weakest distance final of the meet?
Every American medal was by someone who has been one of the best in the world the last few years

She didn’t go out slow. She ran an evenly paced race in a PB. No medal lost.
