Very good in any conditions, not to mention the heat in Dallas
Honestly it’s not good enough to win even if everyone improves. My guess is you need to have a team that is capable of scoring around 100 points at nxn to win this year.

Anyone know what the weather was like? If it was like 85+ then I take this back.

Only surprises to me is Jesuit OR being so low, as well as Mira Costa, Seattle Prep, and Bentonville being "top 25". Obviously it's subjective, but I would've considered putting in Lone Peak, Rocky Mountain, and Oakdale instead.
I think Ventura is overrated because they lost their head coach. Knowing those guys they are going to increase their mileage, be too ambitious, and get themselves hurt. I bet Dana Hills and San Clemente will be the two top California teams at Woodbridge.
yes this is actually sort of correct but mostly because of their last track season. their number #3 Nick DeGeorge is out for good. they have a few guys slowly trying to get back from injuries but it is not easy including their #2. I highly doubt they are the fastest CA team. It's unfortunate injuries suck

I'm curious what makes Rocky a top 25 team with their existing returners.
Landon Heemeyer- totally legit #1 Cody Lucas- 9:12 3200m, great #2 Then it's a handful of guys around 10:00 for 3200m that have run high 16:40's to low 17:00's on the Firman/NXR course.
I know that they've had big improvements in the past, but you can't bank on that.

Yeah losing DeGeorge could leave a dent in Ventura’s lineup.
But the good news is they still have 5 guys back from last year’s varsity: Seniors FastHorse, Grossman, Costa, and Hammel, and also sophomore Harris. AND, they got 2 brothers who transferred from Newbury Park - Noah (sophomore) and Jonah (senior) Sloan. The younger Sloan ran a 9:37 3200 last track season, which is only 2 seconds off of what DeGeorge ran. If the Sloans didn’t move, they will be forced to run JV until the beginning of October. The other Sloan is looking to compete for a varsity spot too.
I think Dana Hills has the advantage over Ventura but Ventura still has a good chance to make NXN

They either have inside information or they are guessing that a huge team with a good coach will develop new runners.
It’s not a bad guess in this case, but I’d rather see HS rankings reward teams for what its runners have actually done than making guesses in hopes of looking sharp when it plays out that way.

Obviously the only way to know if to see how they race, but their track data looks really good (and typically Idaho/NW teams do better in XC).
Taking the track speed rating conversions from this season, here are the places they have already earned in the championship race at NXR NW (before factoring in ANY KIND of improvement since track)
This is the kind of returning depth that makes people always talk about teams like Great Oak and CBA, and so even if they don't improve at all, I doubt that Rocky will be any worse than a top 30-35 team this season.
Where do you guys think Herriman’s new #1 Will Steadman will finish at NXN this year?
Having not seen him run, the data suggests probably not top 30 in XC. But he may still be a fast enough miler to get a Brooks PR invite after spring track. His 3200 times and speed ratings so far don’t match his mile.
