Nara-MTU trails;
3 hours of X-C skiing on fresh clean fast snow. Temps. in the mid 20's.
Comprised of impeccably groomed and lyrically flowing loops, this system is one of my favorites.

sorry for my tardiness in reporting....20' on Monday....all was status quo, but wanted to be extra cautious....Tuesday off....32' on Wednesday....still some mild stiffness, but the Ache-illes actually feels better after running....stormy weather forecast for Friday, so sucked it up and repeated Wednesday's run today....no ill effects after my first back-to-back since who knows when....will try again on Saturday with a goal of 35' for next week....
quite alright 02, it gives me pause to reiterate the time honored colloquialism, "Better late than never".
AM: 1 hour recovery level ski.
The snowmobile trail crossing a portion of the property was groomed yesterday. However, current snow levels are deemed insufficient for snowmachine travel. The smooth flat trail met our ski needs nicely.
Headed down to the Rib....paralleled the river for a few miles then doubled back home.
today
all we had time with a colleague was a brisk 3k at the track at lunch, out of the blue, warm up as you go in about 13 minutes.
Shower, eat and back to work.
A total quickie, but worth it.
Out in the mist, fog and rain at 4:30 this morning for an ez 4 followed by another with the dogs in tow.
Warmer than normal temps prevail. Rob met us at 9 Mile for a 1.5 hour ski. Nailed the wax with some blue power grip under the foot and Toko moly in the glide zones. Hit the first 45 minutes at 70-75% HR max then backed off to 120-125bpm(60%) for the remainder. Things are clicking better right along.
In GB for a family B-Day gathering.
PM; Ran/slipped for 57:35 through the residential areas on snow/ice covered sidewalks and streets.
Knee lift and midfoot plant all felt good. Skiing has slowed my cadence, but a run free of any niggles is worth it.
34' yesterday....went a few yards farther than the previous time....temps here remain relatively balmy for January....no complaints.....typical Ache-illes stiffness, but not too bad....will hit it again tomorrow...
25k hilly loop. Started at 6pm to avoid worst of heat. The evening breeze kicked in and it was quite pleasant once up on the higher areas. Felt great throughout.
today
In munich for work, no running.
AM; 15 minute quickie on the spintrainer.
PM; Tended the cattle , then enjoyed a warm meal and saw my PM workout meld into a 3 hour couch/flatscreen session. I was bushed.
Bushman bushed....seems appropriate somehow....cranked things up to 35' today....not sure what I was thinking, but set out on a route that usually takes 40' when I'm healthy....was smart for once and shut it down at the planned 35' and walked in from there....some of the usual mild stiffness in the Ache-illes, but no serious issues....may go again tomorrow as my Wednesday schedule is full....we'll see how things feel in the AM...
monday; Back yard ski...5 miles down the yet to be opened snowmobile trail.
Tuesday; Timm's Hill trail for 3.5 hours. First half went well ,then inordinately warm temps turned the snow track tacky.
Neil annd I hit hill o beans for a timely lunch and headed home purged of demons for another day.
Slow skis and clumped clingy

43K stride ski in 3:38. Moderate temps on a bright sunny day.
Missed you Bushman, and all, but was sort of snowed out, in, just snowed seriously, i couldnt make it home for the weekend, and was seriously POed.
Capitalized with a local 14k run on the outskirts of Milan on Sunday with some great dry, cold weather and packed, snowy trails, no humidity, just gorgeous, felt primed.
ùI just love the way landing on packed snow feels. And there's that weird cap'n crunch sound under your feet...
Earlier during the week was normally cold for you, but mayhem over here...relativity is no joke.
Take care you all. Kinda looking forward to the Millrose games. There's something vaguely familiar with my generation.
apologies (again) for my lapses in reporting....completed 35-36' on Tue, Thu, and Fri....nothing remarkably different...nudged things up to 38' on Sun....had some soreness in a slightly different area of the heel/Achilles....decided to rest it today and it seems to be responding....hopeful of another go tomorrow...
today
Easy 4 miles at lunch with a buddy
ysterday
Gym session
Yesterday lunch
4 miles, some snow on the ground, very brisk and refreshing winter run.
today
travel day

Maple season fast approachs. As my focus moves to the harvest at hand , I will be bowing out for a time.
Happy trails and if fate decrees , I'll see you back in late April/early May. Bushman
