resting sunday
travel day
back at it after two rest days....planned to go a bit longer and ended up with 48'....the Ache-illes was not too bad, but still a bit stiff....this was my second consecutive run with some tightness on the other side....will heat that tonight and see if that helps....all feels pretty good several hours later, but want to be proactive.....day off tomorrow, then hoping to shoot for 50 on Thursday...
Warm spell...36F....pulled on the Inov-8 Mud Claws.... leashed the Border Collie and went for 34 minutes on slush and ice covered roads.
Wrapped up with 10 minutes of lunges, situps, and stretches.
AM;
57 minutes on backroads. Over night precipitation consisted of 1/2" of a slushy snow mix. Though a bit slippery, it was a great cushion. Temp. @ 34F and ground fog prevailed.
Slip slidin' away... slip slidin' awayyyyy
seems the nearer your destination ....the more your slip sliding away
AH Paul Simon, you've given us so much
PM; Doubled up with 31:15 on the spintrainer. Broke a good sweat...HR@ 128 for the last 10 min. Felt good.
Long may you run DYRT Bros.
thought I'd go for 50' today, but had to cut it short....all started well with seasonably warm temps accompanied by intermittent light mist....made the turnaround at 26' with no problems....left leg was doing fine and the right Ache-illes was only a 2 out of 10 on the tightness meter.....got to 42' and felt a sharp twinge in the right calf....slowed to a walk for about 3', then picked up the pace again....6' later, felt another less sharp twinge....walked it in from there....so, 48' total.....no lingering effects several hours later, so I'm aiming for Saturday.....
things went somewhat better today....46' as planned....no problems on the left side...right Ache-illes remains tolerable....kept it slow and flat...negative splits thanks to the slight tailwind on the return....will probably take the next two off to be a little cautious...
Surf's up for 02...kudos...cautiously.
PM; Spintrainer for 39:00. Went for 3x1 minute max effort out of the saddle stints to finish the ride.
YES i ran today!
Wish i had a garmin on me but was taking photos for all our team categories racing today from men's women's all the way to the 6-y-olds
yesterday
Kids Track for 2 hours, with mild drizzle, so couldnt use the grass for drills, did all fun exercises around the track all to ourselves... lots of warmup stuff, the best one was running from lane 6 to 1 calling the lane number single file...so it went like for progressions 6,5,4,3,2,1,2,3,4,5,6...and for sidestepping agility, 6,5,6,5,4,5,4,3,4,3,2,3,2,1...hold it in 1, and then, 1,2,3,4,5,6... really fast, they loved it... Then lots of relays, 4x100 and 4x200.
friday
bicyling like crazy not to be late around town. Very good work out.
thursday
travel day
wednesday
isometric exercises
tpcb,
Highly commendable, the way you make time for the young people. Kudos.
Sunday; 2 miles AM
Monday; work
Tuesday: ABR jaunt. 2 1/2 hours on the classic skiis. Sunny and moderate temps. Trails are in good early season shape.
Wish I could say the same for myself.
Nice to read that you guys are still posting and still moving along. I will try to get back to posting regularly.
I did have a few issues as Bushie pointed out re. the 50s thread hence the slight variation to the name.
No run today, actually it's nearly 2am so that should be yesterday.
Out for a bit over the hour on the bike, around the trails of the Argyle, ave speed a sluggish 17-18kph until turning for home on the old railway easement, banged out the last 7kms fast enough to get the ave up to 21kph.thanks to some nice tail winds.
Stopped at the lake on the way to work and bounced the kyak around the Moorabee headland for 3k into a strong westerly then turned the craft around and surfed home at a god pace. A quick swim and then off to work for a 1.30 start.
Tuesday saw me out for 80mins on the bike in the One Eye Forest. Followed by an hour of running in the same area.
I've been hitting between 120-160kms on the mtn bike the last few weeks.
Running kms are down a bit. Theory is to strengthen up the quads with the bike as the knee still feels a bit ? at times.
good to hear from you, mopak....had an internal debate today regarding running on the Ache-illes....heart won out over the brain....set out today hoping for 45-ish....not too bad until around 30' when I stopped to walk....restarted after a few minutes and finished with a 42' total....probably should have listened to the brain.....will take a few days off and hope for improvement....I'll wish all a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays now since I probably won't run again until after the big day...
Got out for 25 mins. tonight. The road is a mix of frozen rutted slush and gravel that invites a pratfall in the dark.
Quiet night w/no moon.....if I knew my constellations, the sky was an oyster to be opened. Stunning primal beauty wrought by forces beyond our grasp.... corrections and additions going down every second. The measured arc of the satellite or the streak of a meteor...kinda like Gump's box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get next.
Happy Holidays and a Merry Christmas one and all.
All,
really appreciate being able to wish you all a great holiday season! These last couple of days have been crazy at work but i finally made it on the train to go back home for a nice break.
Nice to see mo'pak again and looking forward to threading on.
Bushman, the kid athletics (and their parents too!) is really important to me and to my club, even if i only manage to do it once a week for two hours on saturday.
We have a problem here in that since Baldini, it seems like a whole Track&Filed generation has vanished. Last champs, the only medal (bronze) was highjumper Antonietta Di Martino. I could start on so many stories of so many promising athletes who skid off course because of injury, physical or psychological, typically both, or mismanagement and ignorance.
But it is christmas... so instead i'll just think of all the families that we train on weekends...the point being to stimulate them to test themselves and be inspired by Sports to be together, be active and have fun.
Today and Yesterday
A lot of Running around, but not a whole lot of Running.
Holiday Season off to a great start with 45 mins in Villa Pamphili with 40 fellow runners wishing people a merry christmas with every stride they took...
Crystal clear air and sunny made for a spring like experience.
food food and more food.
No running, only eating.
ropm in Villa Pamphili with my kids and neighbour's.
Lots of running playing soccer and various other field games...
Monday; Imperial valley run. 67 minutes on the field roads and ditch tops. Flat terrain..... aroma of sweet gums and mown alfalfa.... coyote tracks everywhere.
It felt great to limber up after Sundays' jumble of travel. Ironically, the morning temperatures in WI are warmer than here in CA.
Ran to practice, 5x600 with teammate at mile pace (4:40) but it was so cold they ended up being at 73-75 pace. Ran home.
