She probably was not trying to grab her arm, she was trying to get her not to cut her off and even after that Tsegay still cuts in front and almost knocks Kipyegon into the infield. Glad to see Ethiopians not medal again.
She won’t be reinstated. Grabbed Tsegays arm and pulled hard.
That's the one thing that struck me. Yes, Tsegay initiated the whole incident, so swatting Tsegay away would seem to be perfectly okay. But straight up grabbing her arm? I'm not a track rules expert, but I could see that possibly being a step too far even if, again, Tsegay started the whole thing.
Thanks for posting this. I've read all the comments about Faith grabbing Tsegay's arm but I think this slo-mo shot shows that Faith was within her natural arm swing in front of her own body, while Tsegay pushed her arm out in front of Faith's stomach. This of course causes Faith to catch her arm when she swings it forward mid-stride. So yes, the result is that Faith catches Tsegay's arm, but it's completely Tsegay's fault and Faith should not be DQed.
Same - though I feel like Athing Mu is sitting at home kicking herself right now (or maybe not...). That was a very winnable race.
I hate these kinds of posts. No it wasnt. Because she wasn't even able to get to the startline. And if she was it might have been a different race. And even if it had not been, she might have lost.
I know it's childish, used to hear this talk in high school track. There were excuses when Moraa and Keely beat her just last year. You don't get credit for races you didn't run.
That 800 was kind of a snooze-fest tbh Morra not in her best shape (allegedly), Reekie bombed out in early rounds, and the best runner left at home (Mu).

the best runners were all running 20 mins ago. If she wasn't running there, she wasn't the best today.
