Krissy (winner) in her post race interview: I could cry - I am so happy and thankful
Emma (2nd place) : here are 12 things I did wrong, which is why Krissy beat me
Courtney (3rd place): I’m so happy for Krissy - she is amazing and deserves this
Gum-gobbling Coburn, who doesn’t have the good manners to spit it out during her sour-face interview, is the most ungracious loser this side of Ajee Wilson. Rarely congratulates or commiserates, and it seems clear other athletes have no use for her. It’s surprising she didn’t accuse Gear of doping — or maybe that’s just when she gets her a$$ handed to her by Africans. What a miserable wretch.

she hugged Gear immediately after the race, and congratulated both her and Wayment
I was there - one of her shoes fell off (or someone stepped on her and the shoe came off - I didn't see that part) and she had to step off the track. She was clearly gutted, on her hands and knees crying. She didn't seem injured and was able to walk off after a minute or so, but I felt so terrible for her.
Awww that stinks. I am becoming more and more a fan of hers and was rooting for her underdog story.
She’s had some bad breaks. She basically had an NCAA indoor championship taken from her the night before the race and just hasn’t had that breakout race yet as a pro. The talent is there.

Replay shows her stepping off the track while she was in the thick of it. My guess is she got pushed off the track. The camera angle switched so it didn't show exactly what happened.
at what point are they gonna stop hosting USAs here just because it's "tracktown"
they clearly don't care enough to fill the stands.
host USAs in a city that doesn't get much athletics and will actually appreciate it.
What US city would pack a stadium? Can you name one?
Chicago. Easy to get to withstand direct flight for just about everyone. Maybe not packed, but definitely more. I would have made the short flight out the 6 hour drive. I went to Eugene last year for WC, didn’t even consider going for USAs. It’s just not a convenient trip.

Watched a better replay. She lost a shoe. She ran barefoot for a bit but Im guessing the friction was too much.

I rewatched the aftermath of that steeple. Coburn’s “hug” was perfunctory at best (nearly hateful), I didn’t notice any interaction with Wayment, and, after the medalists’ interview, the spiteful gumchewer acted as if she had a plane to catch rather than spend an extra half-second with Gear and Wayment. The sport will be less toxic when she retires. Yuck!
I don't question it. Coburn has none. The hug that Gear gave her was far more than Coburn wanted. She stuck her right hand out as if preferring a token handshake. Gear was oblivious to the bitchiness so she turned it into a full hug.
Wayment was genuine class while Coburn couldn't have been less predictable.
And I got a laugh the other day when Coburn expects world medalists in the 9:05 or 9:06 range. The times haven't been low hardly means they won't get there. Accelerating talent in the event.
