That song is so excellent. I take back all those things I said about ya.
It takes it's time building up, and the beginning left me a little underwhelmed, but boy that bring it home in the last half!
Always liked Mott the Hoople, esp. All the Young Dudes.
Nice!
People call All the Young Dudes a cover, but not so fast. Bowie wrote ATYD for Mott The Hoople, who recorded it in 1972. Bowie subsequently recorded the same song in 1974, so you could rightly say Bowie covered his own song.
As the writer, Bowie gets the lion's share of the royalties.

Yeah, and fwiw, I like Ian Hunter and Mott the Hoople version infinitely better.
I was inspired to just spend a few hours listening to Mott the Hoople, and if you don't know already, there's a long set with Mick Ronson featured live with the Ian Hunter's Band from 1980 Rockpalast (on You Tube). I would be interested to hear what you think. Doubtless, though, Mick Ronson does not fail to amaze. And the sound quality of the recording I found was surprisingly good!

It's over a decade old, so the samples are dated, but it makes a great running playlist, especially if you like hip-hop. Also, proves once and for all the Skee-Lo's "I Wish" is vastly improved by the baseline from T'Pau's "Heat and Soul."

Very good Seattle Prattle. Listening to Mott/Ian Hunter takes me back to my college days. By 8pm our end of the dorm became R&R central.
Okay, I missed this back a week ago, but my freshman hall folks were all into Bruce S., big time.
But what brought me back to this thread was what I was listening to today, and I first got turned onto this album - Little Feat, Waiting for Columbus (live) back about the same time.
This thing is amazing, if I may say so. I think you might like it, though surely you've heard it before.
Here's one of my favs off that album, but there's a surprisingly good number of great stuff there.

This playlist includes the entire deluxe version of the album and also every bonus track ever released, including the remixes with Black Hippy and Jay Z.
The most significant hip-hop album to be released since Kanye's "The College Dropout." Lost album of the year Grammy to Macklemore's "The Heist" and Macklemore had the grace and humility to mention it in his acceptance speech. Not even remotely safe for work, unless you work at Def Jam records.
