A few critical questions surrounding booster shots that have yet to be determined, hence making indiscriminate use problematic, unjustified and unethical:
1. The optimal timing of boosting is not clear
2. Lack of comparative data on currently marketed vaccines w/re immunity. Do they all boost "immunity" to a similar extent (homologous or heterologous boosting)? And here immunity needs to be looked at not only in the laboratory (e.g. antibody levels, Tcell reactivity) but also in the clinic (not just w/re to the crappy outcome of PCR+ and 1 symptom but also adequately powered hard outcome studies (evaluate death/morbidity/hospitalization/ICU admittance).
3. There is the ethical consideration of providing a third vaccine dose to certain individuals, while a large section of the world is yet to receive the first.
4. Acknowledgement there is ethical concerns around providing a third vaccine dose to otherwise healthy people at near zero risk of covid death/morbidity to begin with even without these immunotherapy shots. Now add cumulative risk of side effects, including myocarditis/pericarditis into the mix.
Welcome morons!
