Good lord man. How did you get into an Ivy school? This is the final straw. A Ivy League degree no longer holds any weight to me.
Boston is windier than Chicago. New York is close. Chicago feels windy because of the effect of the buildings.

You sound like a very hateful, small minded person with a chip on your shoulder.

Does this mean that it's actually ALWAYS windy? Even when the wind gauge says it's quite calm?
Atlanta goes by the nickname "Hotlanta." I guess this means that when the mercury reads 25 degrees Fahrenheit, as it's been known to do, that I should go running shirtless to keep from sweltering.
The lack of brainpower you have exibited just in this thrad, to say nothing of the dozens of other things you've said previously that are just as bad, is truly dizzying.

2:32:12 so not a pb.
We have an employee policy of firing anyone over 2:30 but will not implement it as he did get a lot of screen time. He was instructed - either run with the lead women and blow up or PR.

PS. the part about telling him to get screen time/firing is a joke people.
Earlier you said that he was not an employee. You'll be hearing from us.
"Attack" is a stronger word than I should've used, and I withdraw it. It is, however, at best a very badly-judged joke on a sensitive issue that I think should not have been made - especially by a founder of this site, and a coach who is therefore a role model to young athletes.
My main beef is:
a) As other commenters have explained, it's patronising and belittling to someone who someone who sees himself as a gay person, and an aspiring elite marathoner - not a 'gay marathoner'. The distinction here may seem subtle but is important, and is why the brojos' coverage of Llano's aims and performance has been problematic. Yes, Llano came out. Yes, Llano set some high goals for himself. But he never spoke about setting a 'fastest gay marathon', and never would. Letsrun did that.
b) the P.S. about categories implies that gay people in sport should be - or are on the way to being - given special treatment, and separate little categories of their own. Gay people in sport don't want special treatment. They would like for it to be ok to be a gay person in sport, without needing to be ashamed or secretive about it, same as it is for a straight person (which a lot of the time, it sadly just isn't, even in the 21st century). Beyond that, they wish to be judged on their athletic merits like anyone else. (If any gay athlete disagrees with this generalisation or wishes to correct me, please do so, thanks!).

Actually, the record is a long-standing 2:12:23.

No, in a much different manner. I do, in fact, make positive contributions to society every day. You, on the other hand, are clearly capable of doing so only by accident, if that.
blowing air wrote:

Hardly. I can cheerfully disagree with people on all sorts of topics. Only in extreme and necessary cases do I implore people to take their own lives.

No, actually I'm a spactacularly intelligent and laid-back human being who just doesn't suffer aggressively dumb people as gracefully as those people would like.
Hardly. He is no where near Ryan Hall's debut.Just kidding. ;)

Well maybe you should ACT like that on these forums instead of telling people to drink cyanide over a comment they made about a marathon runner. That was unnecessarily over the line and you know it.

Excellent post, except for the above. I coach high-school kids and routinely suggest that they not visit this forum, and that if they insist on doing so that they do their best to choke it with trolling, hostility, unfounded drug accusations, and gratutious mean-spirited obsrvations about the low intelligence of both the founders and most of the regulars.
I got your point. I just didn't agree that the coverage was tailored for the 99% target audience either.0% of the target audience cares about mile 1 after the runners have passed, yet we got to see six times that nothing much was happening there.I watched the Berlin marathon live on RBB. By comparison, the coverage of both men and women's elite race, and local racers, was outstanding. Heck we even got a replayed half moon from CIerpinski, to help explain why he disappeared from his pacemakers mid-race. Anna Hahner fans must have been delirious with the amount of coverage she got.Did Chicago even show Bobby Curtis? Amy Hastings was a bit luckier.I think the difference here was that Chicago coverage was by the local network, and sponsored by B of A.
Wow! "Bigot" is the word. In one thread you requested 2 people to take their own life. Sorry your boy missed the record by 10 min.

All they have to do is show some sort of tape delay/replay of the breaks.... Is that so hard to do?
They can show there little puff peace, then have Reavis say there was some action up front and mention something about the size of someone's balls, and then cut to the replay.
Or picture-in-picture showing the action...or...
For one of the breaks the camera was out. No one could see it. The footage didn't exist.
I agree the coverage sucked.
They should stream the separate cameras on the internet. Charge $5.

I remember years ago how 'they' were predicting new technology would provide more excitement and customization for television audiences of sporting events; viewers would be able to select from many more camera angles, and able to replay shots in slow motion as many times as they wished. We have since achieved the latter, with DVR's, but the former has not happened, partially because of the exclusive nature by which sport broadcasting rights are sold off, reducing incentive for the broadcaster to cater to the whims of the minority viewing audience.

Don't confuse me for what Rojo posted or what you think he was trying to post. I don't belittle the courage at all. When Steve told me what Rojo posted I called him up and said he he should apologize. I don't think he meant to offend but I totally see how people see it as offensive. Regardless it was stupid.
I have no idea what you are talking about with the ice cream.
As for Michael Sam, Rojo and myself are HUGE Cowboys fans (best team in football IMO), and I know for a fact Rojo was going to buy a Michael Sam jersey, but they don't make jerseys for practice squad players or give them official numbers.

Except there is no real proof that The Windy City refers to Chicago's politicians. It sounds good though.
I'm one more saying that the origin of the term 'windy city' was in reference to the politicians. It probably was easier to stick because the city is windy and feels that way with the big buildings etc.
PS, glad to see Wejo's very recent comment.
Thanks Wejo, very encouraged by and grateful for your comment.

Kipchoge ran 1:02:00 / 1:02:11
If he had 2:03:10 ability right now, he would have negative split after what you're calling a "slow" opening half. But he didn't/
Why do you think going out in 1:01:40 would have given him a faster second half? Makes zero sense.
Eluid ran to his ability today. Great performance.
