Hinsdale Central IL seems to have more to give. This team is also very senior-heavy. They weren’t far from winning state last year and they return 4 guys from state. I can imagine that winning state being their goal. They could challenge Plainfield South if Watcke returns and their #5 (grant miller) closes the gap on their 4th. Miller didn’t run at state last year, but in at least one race last year, he beat some of his teammates that ended up at the state meet. So he could have more in him than what we saw this fall.
They're as good 1-4 as anyone but their #5 probably puts them a step below some of the other teams. If he can close the gap like you said then they'll likely be in the mix.
Jesse Gamboa from HC has a freshman brother entered in this race. He dominated a frosh-soph race with a 16:33 5K. He could be one of the candidates to close the 4-5 gap.
They also have another good soph that this team could be relying on this year.
More than 7 HC people are entered in this race.
This race is gonna be used as a battle for the HC top 7 spots
Jesuit LA appears to be missing their #1 guy (Michael vocke), junior in the entries list. It probably won’t hurt their score much. There are 5 other guys that almost beat him. Heck, he didn’t score last meet. Probably sick or injured. But he was their number 1 at the time trial though. He was also their 1 at almost every meet last year too. But there are 4 Jesuit nonseniors racing here. So they will have FIVE studs back next year which includes Vocke. Newbury down next year, who is next? Jesuit LA probably
Lots of talk about Nike Twilight, but Centerville Saturday Night Lights should be a fun meet this weekend. Lancaster, Loveland and Chardon all entered on the team side and some really good individuals scheduled to be there as well.
Berlin Bear Den Dash is this weekend, which has some decent teams for the boys like Toledo St. Francis, Westerville North, and Dublin Coffman. Also some really good individuals like Liam Shaugnessy, Sam Ricchiuti, Weston Day, Will McGraw, Ben Gableman, and I'm sure others.
What are your thought on it? I think Lancaster is better than their ranking..and to be moved up two spots. But Massillon and Mason are really solid for the top 2 and do not really see that changes, unless St. X makes a move
I think it's crazy the lack of respect Toledo St. Francis is getting and the amount of respect St. Xavier is getting. And Lancaster might be better than both of them, I'd definitely take them ahead of St. X at this point. The only caveat is that Tol. St. Francis really only has 5 guys and I noticed one of them didn't run last week, hopefully nothing serious because there is a massive drop to their #6.
I agree that TSF is not getting enough respect. I think they are better than Springboro and HD.
I disagree that St. X is getting too much respect. They have all the talent to be at least the #2 team in the state. They may even challenge Mason if they get either of their two MIA guys from State last year back in time.
Well Solon was off to a good start, beating Hilliard Davidson, now they seem to be falling back a little. Maybe they were peaking too early? They didn’t make state last year. They lost 3 seniors I think, and added a junior scorer from JV last year.
Now they have 5 guys but they are only 5 deep so if one guy has an off day it’s game over. Peaking too early can be dangerous if your team is only 5 deep because you have no one else to rely on
Huge day for Dub. Coffman. They might have catapulted themselves into the podium conversation. I had a feeling this team was this good, just waiting on them to put it all together.
Very fast times but this is a notoriously fast course on a perfect weather day.
Coffman had their top 3 go sub 16, and the next 2 went 16:15 and 16:17 respectively. They also have their next 4 going sub 16:45. They are definitely improving.

TSF did not look good today at the Berlin Bear Den Dash. Well beaten by Coffman, probably their worst race of the year. As for St. X it looks like their MIA guys ran today at their home invite. Maybe they’ll look like a different team by the time November rolls around. Still plenty of time for those guys to get back to where they were last year.

I don’t think it was TSF not looking good (15:23, 15:35, 16:17, 16:18, 16:19) is a pretty strong day) as much as it was that Coffman raced spectator. Their #3-5 closed the gap on their 1 really well today compared to previous weeks
