Powerhouse run by Keely, I actually liked Moraa's tactics to let her lead (though she ran a little wider than I would've liked) but Keely was just far and away the strongest woman there
Agreed, I thought Moraa was gonna take it with 200 to go since Keely had led the previous 350m, but Keely was saving her kick for a perfectly timed final 100m
Same - though I feel like Athing Mu is sitting at home kicking herself right now (or maybe not...). That was a very winnable race.
agreed. really wish we could have seen Mu in the race. so happy for Keely, so well deserved, and yet the race felt almost anticlimactic.
Not for me. After Gainesville and London there was no doubt that Keely was the far and away the best 800 runner in the world. In the future some may assign an asterisk to her win but at least for now theres no question who is the best.
Hassan is the most obvious doper in the modern era imo
It's funny that I'm getting downvotes on this when it was a pretty popular opinion that someone (Hassan) couldn't possibly pull off that 1500/10000 double without doping. Then NOP gets dismantled and now everyone believes a 5/10/marathon triple is possible. Y'all don't even think some people can get through rounds in one event yet someone is doing the distance triple... ridiculous.

just rewatched it a dozen times, just the one angle that nbc showed live, there might be other angles - from that view who cant tell who instigated it, you cant really tell if tsegay was encroaching either. they go from a side view where those two arent in the shot and when they return to the view from the front the incident is already happening..
You must be seeing a different stream or something?
The Peacock world feed you can watch the whole thing develop and take place. Tsegay comes over from lane 2 and gets shoulder to shoulder. To my eye, the arm bars/grabbing at that point is equal. But Tsegay both did more to initiate and really put the cherry on top when she stomped all over Kipyegon to take lane 1. I guess they only DQ the person who is in line for a medal? But to me it seems ridiculous
This Italian woman is going to have a stressful couple hours. Leigh Diffey naming her a bronze medalist but also recognizing that an appeal could undo that.
May not have been the most thrilling race, but what a perfectly run race from Keely.
I'd say the opposite. I fully expected Keely to go for a total burn-up from gun-to-tape, the fact that she was sitting alongside athletes through 300m had me super stressed. Much more of a tense watch the way it played out
What do y'all think of the Kipyegon dq? I think she looked like she was just defending her space because she didn't want to step onto or over the rail. This was the wrong call in my book.
