Val was a volunteer assistant coach who had access to all of CU's facilities under Wetmore - if they're at the Niwot track, guess she lost all that access (and she probably found out that her access to facilities was gone in the middle of the trials). I would have hoped the athletic department would have let her keep use of the facilities through the Olympics.
So does Constien not have access to a water jump anymore or actual barriers? I assume niwot doesn't have them.
I would say no, based on their workouts going on at Niwot.
As for what CU is going to allow, perhaps we (the LR shut-ins) should do a petition, and send it to Rick George to let Constien use the Potts field track...
Hope whoever gets the role is more community focused than Wetmore. It would be great if the new coach took more of a Mike Smith approach with the community, and opens up CU facilities as I feel this will help get the community behind the program which can only be a good thing. Similar to the way Mike is involved in both NAU and Team Run Flagstaff

A lot of facility use is not up to the coaching staff but the athletic department/ liability insurance.
The last school I worked with made it impossible for anyone to use facilities. Coaches had to create an LLC with independent insurance in order to have a camp and had to “rent” the facility from the school at an astronomical rate. Basically to kill having camps.
Alumni were not allowed, highschool meets were not allowed. We had a pro sprint group near by that was banned from the facility. The athletic department wouldn’t even allow open entries at home meets.

The road to hell is paved with good intentions. You let a group or two or three use the track, then if someone gets hurt or sick or injured suddenly the school (because it is seen as having deep pockets) gets sued. The AD and legal departments just want to shut this down before it has time to happen.
The easiest thing to do is to severely restrict use with lots of paper work, restricted times, and large liability insurance policies required.

This is just sad.
After I win the lottery, I'm gonna buy a golf course and turn it in to a runner's training spot. Since I will be blessed with infinite money, I will also provide a world-class running track which will be open to everyone. And to prevent litigation, all runners will sign a simple waiver indemnifying me prior to using the facilities.

^Say you do not know what you are talking about without saying you do not know what you are talking about...
Anytime and organization rents a facility, they have to proffer they have liability insurance. The minimum amount is typically $1M. This is why teams are part of an association (i.e.: USATF, AAU, or whatever, depending on sport), and most of what the association provides is liability insurance.
What kills camps is people that have say or sway of facilities that actively dissuade or prevent others from using facilities, even after paying a nominal fee and providing the required insurance. Anyone that has been in the Boulder running scene knows that Wetmore does not like to share, and did not want to allow others to use facilities, or even host track meets.
This makes me ask, did he just show up at Niwot with Constien in tow and start working out, or did he meet with the coaches/AD's first and ask to use the track? Did he provide liability insurance?
I don’t know the specifics of using Niwots track but I have long said CU was succeeding despite their athletic department not because of it.
Department wide they really aren’t good at a whole lot.
I hope They give the new staff tons of resources to interact with the community. Track use for all!!! But judging by the salaries they have listed, they don’t care
There are 5 confirmed interviews after Mike Smith, Diljeet and Joe Franklin turned down immediately.
1. Alan Culpepper
2. Rita (and Robert) Gary
3. Chris Fox
4. Ricardo Santos
5. Trevor Dunbar
Nope.
Culpepper, the Malones, and Jason Drake.
Culpepper has become Brosnan according to the CU bros. Still same chance for both of them to coach at CU: zero. Brosnan was fired at ucla and Culpepper quit after lying to the owners that he would move to Flagstaff. His credibility is zero.
