After every regional, Jonathan Gault will be running Bo Waggoner's program to see who is in and out. He'll post the results on the live blog on the front page: https://www.letsrun.com/events...

Doesn't make any sense to me. The bold runners are those that ran the Southeast Regional. No way that all three got injured/sick in the two weeks before regionals.
On the bright side for UNC, they are only losing one senior and they added a great signee for next season, Logan St. John Kletter out of Pittsburgh.
Perhaps coach held them out to keep them fresh for the national meet.
For perspective Logan SJK is currently #38 xc in her class. When nc recently had the #1 recruiting class they had two top 5 xc recruits in Brown and Masciareĺli and the #2 miler in Taryn Parks. That class just never fully realized potential, at least not yet. Recruiting is never a sure thing.

For perspective, where did Karissa Schweizer rank in her class?
High school performances don't mean anything. Any talented runner can rise to the top. I doubt anybody outside of Florida ever heard of Parker Valby until she got to UF. St. John Kletter has some serious running genes in her family. I have a good feeling about her.

That's the beauty of recruiting. Quite often the stars don't work out and some lesser known athletes like Stearns, Bush, Schweitzer etc does real well. Good luck trying to figure out which ones will succeed though.
On SJK as the #38 frosh, she'll be roughly NCAA #160 when she starts out next year adding the classes together. Even though many hs stars don't do well, you still have a better chance to make all-american as a top recruit than being coached up. That's why schools continue to chase the stars. SJK has about a 20% chance to at some point be all-american.
Oh i forgot, Valby was indeed a bit under the radar in hs. She did win a state title and run 10:10 for 3200 as a sr.
Every year in xc there are 50 Gatorade award winners and about 150 state champs for each gender. You can fill an NCAA field with 200 Gatorade winners and 600 state champs.

Was Valby a junior or senior when she ran that? I think her HS career was cut short by the COVID restrictions.

But I’m not sure on the details. Maybe it was just any post-season races that were reduced.
Stanford will hopefully execute at nationals. Their #3 today showed up in comparison to his track credentials. Gonzaga will likely bomb to shreds like they normally do, but that will smith guy looks to be an all American.
This was typical west coast track XC. The true strong teams will emerge at that hilly potentially muddy VA course. Portland over CBU, no surprise Portland shows up. Let’s see how well CBU does next week, they showed at wisco they’re capable of performing in “true” cross country conditions/ terrain in comparison to a CA grass track.
Looks like Oregon is sending one individual for the men’s. Without a heavy hitter guy who was seemingly healthy in a recent instagram post as well.
Like they normally do? They've qualified three times in their history? They struggled the first two times, but finished 13th last year. They have nowhere near last year's talent level on their current squad and still booked an Auto Q.
No acknowledging a learning curve? Or how hard it is to become a perennially competitive D1 program as a small school? Just lacking general critical thinking skills?
Looks like you’re the one lacking critical thinking skills. Terrible post…Gonzaga, again, bonks hard. I was really hoping will smith would be AA tho. Stay mad and slow
