Final 100m Women - World Athletics Championships Budapest 2023CHAMPIONSHIP RECORD🇺🇸's Sha'Carri Richardson storms to golden 100m glory in 10.65 🤯#WorldAth...
I couldn't really get a good view on this, but I thought his lead leg might have gone around the hurdle, too. Would be nice to see a replay with a good angle.
Even in her celebration she was restrained.. she's put a lot of work into that
Exactly. SCR is putting a lot of work into herself, controlling her emotions, channeling her energies onto the track and not towards distractions. She’s done a remarkably successful job this year. I honestly don’t get why people would root against this version of SCR. She deserves a lot of credit. Everybody knew she was of enormous talent, but so many wrote her off because they were sure she would never get her sh-T together to be able demonstrate her talent when it mattered most. Well, she did. The final was all the more remarkable because after not doing awesome in the semis, she could have panicked and folded.
I have not been a fan of version 1 SCR, but, SCRv2, wow. So glad she started running for herself and chasing greatness instead of being pissed off all the time and running to prove the haters wrong. Such a big difference. She worked for this W and deserves it. I think she has much more to come.
She’s provided plenty of reasons in the past for people not to be fans. There was none of that after the finish line, just joy and humility. It’s about time.
Good for her. I hope she’s able to use this experience to set herself up for the future.
And wow, great execution. I started screaming at 50m when she started walking them down. Much more compact form than the others, and she bottled it up well. Meanwhile, the announcers and cameras were locked in on SAFP and SJ and didn’t mention lane 9 until the finish line.
It's insane to think that woman who ran 10.84 in a SEMI got third, and it's insane to think that a woman who ran 10.84 in a SEMI ended up in f-cking lane 9!!!
WA has to figure out their seeding for semis.
Of course, maybe lane 9 is exactly what SCR might have needed. Be on the outside, relieved of some pressure of those around you. Just relax and run your race.

Yes, after looking scared behind the blocks in the semi she was not focused and almost blew her opportunity. What would her outlook be like if she didnt make the final? Lucky Lane 9 and a great deal more focus! WA even filled the extra lane with a Brit and Pol that tied for 8th. Pol climbed the ladder well in the final. The transition from finish line knowing she won to a minute of shock, to the release of victory emotion was remarkable from a human nature standpoint. The smile and the eyes said it all when the flag went above her head. How many young people have struggled to find acceptance among their peers and things could have gone either way? She hung in there and didnt quit on herself, ditched the wig and started anew this season with focus and thick skin. She will not go back and Im glad for her. The acceptance of the other 2 was refreshing in contrast to the deserved photo bomb by SAFP at Pre last year. Today, Fair and Square all other things being equal.

This lady is a legend. She is a 10 time World Champion. She is a 3 time Olympic Champions and 4 time Olympic Silver Medalist. What a career. Her 10.77 at age 36 is amazing. She is the GOAT.
I don't care for US fans.. the sport doesn't need the US to stay alive. These European meets have been amazing. US cities have no business hosting the WC. Eugene was total cr@p compared to this.

So the world's largest economy isn't needed? Granted most Americans are watching boring Sportsball, but I think if track were marketed well, you could get a bigger fanbase. The Netflix show and sports betting might help.
At this point, there would need to be a death race style competition for Americans to pay attention or care. Other sports have done just fine without the US.
