You’ll aren’t just saying out of state, you are saying of your NXN region to run against teams that will qualify from other region. That’s a long distance and a lot of money for a HS team to spend for a hypothetical need that may or may not come up.
There are very good reasons to take a XC team on a fun team building road trip to a meet against a number of teams you don’t normally see, but chasing one of 4 at large bids seems like an expensive justification.
Reilly was a DNF. Started but wasn't running well and pulled out after little more than a mile. Not sure if he was injured or not. However, he has shown he is more or an 800m/mile guy, which is where he seems to be focused.
Just an FYI - it is "Byron" Grevious. Probably the most overlooked runner - by Milesplit, at least - all year. Ran 14:04 5k on the track in June. Not sure he can take down Simmons, but a definite threat to podium.

Herriman was 3rd at NXN. Trabuco and Calvert Hall are overrated. Neither will make NXN. AF wins first NXN.
For the girls, Lone Peak will win NXN. Saratoga will be 2nd after filling in gaps with middle school girls.

Calvert Hall will get beat by Belen and McCallie at NXR SE and will need an at-large to qualify.
Seems like the Niwot girls team has a better chance to get 1st than Lone Peak does. Somewhere in this thread it says that they are getting a freshman whose last name is Cheruiyot.
They have 6 girls under 18:30 and then Berglund (who ran 120-124 SR) Wilding, and another 10:40 3K runner not mentioned. They look deeper than 2022 but Niwot and Buchanan may still have a better top 3 (or even top 5). We’ll see where they end up in December, I wouldn’t give them the title now but I also wouldn’t be shocked if they just ran a great race at NXN and earned it. They weren’t expected to win in 2019 and even in 2022 a lot of people thought Niwot and Buchanan were better.

It’s crazy how their girls team aren’t even ranked in the TullyRunners rankings. Saratoga and Bethlehem are.
The FM boys team isn’t even in the top 30 in TullyRunners New York rankings. That’s not surprising though since they really only return 5 guys from last year’s boys roster.

Their coach runs a very intense, all-in program. Covid seems to have destroyed his "pipeline", if you will. Big graduation losses after 2019 plus a couple of seasons of essentially nobody joining the program. Plus he's getting older and maybe doesn't have the same energy to put into it.
