It was already banned in some states and schools have found effective ways to circumvent the rulings. It's a bit of a sad day for me but I'm not too worried about the effects of the ruling. Academia will continue to be progressive
You don't want everyone to be treated equally? Seriously?!?
YOu should be rejoicing. Everyone is treated equally. As an aspiring lawyer aren't you looking for everyone to be treated equally?

I believe that black people have historically been treated unequally and that should be corrected against.

You can kind of like give them an advantage but you can't penalize others (asians, indians) who have worked their butts off and are discriminated against. You just can't do that.

I also believe that diversity and representation are a benefit to both schools and society. Even the military seems to agree since they were purposefully exempted from the ruling

I think Asians not getting into Yale pales in comparison to the history of unequal treatment Black Americans have faced. I am sympathetic but I ultimately don't think the level of unfairness even comes close
34 percent of Harvard students are white. 43 percent of those students are either legacies, children of faculty, kin of donors or a recruited athlete. 75 percent of them would not have gotten in if not for special status (National Bureau of Economic Research). But when in doubt, blame the Black people!
Are you seriously denying that Trump could end the Ukraine war in 24 hours? You haven't been paying attention to his previous exploits in the international arena. Ukraine would be a done deal if Trump was president. He has both the poise and moxie needed, unlike anyone else.
Exactly how would he accomplish that?
I have to spell it out for you? I'm here to engage your remedial education? Its called "negotiation" and "diplomacy." And a phone. Perhaps you've heard of such concepts? Get back to me when you have educated yourself on Trump's 24 hour skill sets that no others have.

The liberals who run Harvard could end legacy admits tomorrow - and probably 99% of Americans would be fine with it.

I wonder if anyone on this site would agree that athletes should have to achieve the SAME EXACT academic standards as students admitted without athletic achievements. Why does an elite athlete get in with a 1450 while several 1600 applicants are denied? Does running fast or throwing a ball give you academic merit?

You are probably being sarcastic but I agree with the sentiment. Sports admits are a scandal and absolutely stupid. To waste so many seats for athletes is almost beyond belief.
small schools with vast sports programs blow something like half their early acceptances on athletes. For what?

Sen Lie-a-watha isn't happy.
An extremist Supreme Court has once again reversed decades of settled law, rolled back the march toward racial justice, and narrowed educational opportunity for all. I won't stop fighting for young people with big dreams who deserve an equal chance to pursue their future.
WASHINGTON — A conspiracy-minded Donald Trump supporter who stormed the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6 was arrested Thursday near the home of former President Barack Obama, a law enforcement official told NBC News
If Trump's Mar A Lago trial ever gets up and running it will certainly be a spectacle. One never seen before. How do you defend a client that has gone on TV and stood at rallies and offered about a dozen different fabricated excuses for his crimes? And he has done it dozens of times.
"Your Honor, the President was simply engaging in bravado. We move to squash everything that Trump has said about everything."

He has to settle, doesn't he?
he'll get one hung trial after the next, until the government gives up. There will always be one angry white dude on a FL jury who either is sympathetic to fashy, fat orange salesmen who offer scapegoats for his unsatisfying life, or is intimidated by m;agas' threats against the jurors and their families. We're dealing with an organized crime trial here - m'aga will pull out all the stops to scare the jury and if need be, the judge. Very, very hard for me to see a conviction other than on some wrist slap. He walks. Eventually.
The only real defense other than threats and intimidation will be to stall stall stall and ask for mistrials every day and twice on Tuesday hoping to get one. And make the trial a show, a part of his campaign strategy, full of rants against Hunter Biden and transsexuals.

That may well be. But providing a disadvantage to an asian person today does not provide an advantage to a black person who lived 200 years ago.
