Uhh easy, did you see the mens 200m? Noah Lyles ran the first 100m comfortably in probably Zone 2, maybe Zone 3, while Karate Ken and Knighton went lactic too fast by running beyond Tinman crit zone the first 50m, obviously allowing Lyles to pull away and accelerate and kick in the last 100m of the race. Masterfully executed, expertly performed rocket surgery
Trump lives in your head rent free. And he’ll be living in the White House on January 20
Kelati escaped the repression in Eritrea and sought asylum in America. That's specifically what Trump has railed against. Now she's proudly representing the USA in Paris. That is a true American story.
You have to know flags are at half staff at Republican hqtrs, fits and rage at moron-largo.Their nightmare becoming reality, hated African immigrants showing who’s boss on the track.
I’m wary of criticizing these athletes who are worlds better than I’ll ever be from the safety of my couch, but they were capable of running faster than 31:40 (to get more points for rankings) as evidenced by the 5:49 last 2k.
That said, Kelati can’t be criticized since she has the standard, and I think we should cut Valby some slack after all the incredible front running she’s done this year, including practically the entire 5k only to finish 4th. Nobody was up to the task outside of the top 3, so that really puts some onus on Karissa, who seems to be fully indoctrinated by the Jerry school which means following on the rail till the last lap no matter what.
i appreciate this comment, because I find that lack of competitive spirit cowardly.....to simply follow other racers authoring the race and then stick your face in it late. That's a bs way to race and to live. It's like he coaches the exact opposite of a Prefontaine attitude. By and large, runners race like fools. Game theory has completely missed the thought leaders of this sport.

Yikes I hope this is a troll.. so many things wrong with this sentence lol
Are you telling me that sprinters do tactical races in a final? If so please provide evidence.
Not certain what that has to do with “whining about conditions”. Sprinters blame sub-par times on cold conditions all the time. Distance runners blame heat. Both are true. Not really a big deal.
That was intense - doesn't look like much love between Valby and Schweizer
Well, how would you treat an fellow competitor that leached off of all your hard work and never contributed? Schweizer showed me who she really is this trials, and I won't be cheering for her anytime soon.

I agree her story is great but I would add that every single winner/qualifier is a true American story...different stories to be sure but great stories nonetheless.

It's a race, not a collaborative effort to see how fast they can run.
As long as they compete within the rules, every runner is entitled to employ the tactics that they believe offers them the best chance of success.
Schweizer has by far and away the fastest 1500m time of the three leaders, and it was a logical enough assumption that her best shot was to sit and kick, rather than take it on early. In fact there is an argument to be made that she went too early (twice!) and might have won if she'd have left it to the last 150m or so.
Valby didn't take the lead out of the goodness of her heart, or because she's a better person, but because the long run for home is what offered her the best shot of success.
Perfectly fine for the roads but on the track it's just the 5k but with a 3 mile tempo in the middle of it. Removing it will keep people's eyes on the screen for more interesting events.
I’ve finally met the distance runner that gets it!
"As of Tuesday, based on the current Road to Paris List, and our own calculations after Lukan’s Euros performance (Remember: It’s a moving target!), Valby’s best shot at making the team in the 10,000m would be to get to an average of 1210 (to go ahead of Lukan’s 1209-point total). Since WA scores the average of an athlete’s two best results, and Valby’s Bryan Clay showing is worth 1221, she needs at least a 1199-point showing to get there. She can do so by: – Finishing 3rd at the Trials and running 31:43.72 or faster: 45 placing points + 1154 result points = 1199 performance score. – Finishing second at the Trials and running 31:49.35 or faster: 50 placing points + 1149 result points = 1199 performance score – Winning the Trials and running 32:00.65 or faster = 60 placing points + 1139 result points = 1199 performance score."

Get back to me when any of these athletes run a 10.7 in the 100, which I did, other than the sprinters
so, no, they aren’t better athletes. They are just better at slow things, and many of them don’t even do that well because they don’t even give their best effort

There’s a difference between attributing a poor time to the weather and lining up and deciding that you’re going to give 90% effort today or choose to run a tactical race because of the weather
